Fuck every Florida Heisman winner including Spurrier, and every one of their beat writers.  They all left DMac completely off their ballots so that Tebow would have an easier path to the Heisman. 

And before someone chimes in that Tebow deserved to win, he had a worthy season but all the excuses used the year before to keep from giving it to McFadden applied to Timmy as well.

Team didn't win enough games:  Tebow's Heisman year Florida went 9-4, 2006 Hogs went 10-4.

Can't give it to a sophomore:  Tebow won it as a sophomore.

As for the initial question, McFadden was undoubtedly the far superior player, but the oh shit factor was higher when Jones got the ball in his hands.  Part of it was because no one expected this giant white dude who looked like a baby foal when running to leave everyone on the field in the dust.  You had to watch and realize that each of his strides was at least five yards where all the guys chasing him were at 2-3 yard steps at best.   No one could figure out how to get an angle on him because he looked slow.

That does not excuse all the Florida douchebags going out of their way to rig the vote in his favor.  It probably didn't make a difference, but fuck them anyway for their intent.  Nor does it excuse all the people who refused to vote DMac the year before because he was a sophomore when he was clearly the best player in the country.

McFadden was the greatest Razorback I ever saw play, but Jones was a freak. I was in Austin and I couldn't believe what was seeing when he was running by guys. Some gangly looking white dude and they just couldn't stop him. He became a legend that day. That it was against Texas in Austin just made it sweeter.

Not really. He scored like 30 1-yard touchdowns. And threw for another dozen or so 2-yard jump pass touchdowns.

He was a good fullback.
