except attendance for the last two football games have been in the top 10 all time. that's tickets scanned, not sold.

it's a mystery for sure. got an instate opponent on a friday night. let's see what that crowd will be like.

i will say muss was a tireless marketer, all over social media. if i heard cal right, he never had much of online presence at all. didn't really need to at kentucky. he might have to do a little adjusting to that.

Honest question, do we really think Muss goofing around on Twitter and holding fashion shows drove attendance?

People know it's basketball season.

There is naturally still a lot of built-in ambivalence about Cal in the fan base. You're not going to bring in the coach of your hated rival, who many hate personally also, and have everybody be immediately on board. Some will be "he's our asshole now" but just as many will be reluctant, or in wait and see mode.

Also, as mentioned above, the entirely new team of players hasn't created any bonds with the fans. How could it? The only returning player is Brazile, who most people didn't love anyway.

The only thing that has shown well so far is beating the #1 team in an exhibition. Wait, didn't we do that last year? How did that turn out?

I think a majority of the fan base is in Show Me mode before deciding to turn out.

I tried selling lower level seats for below face value, no takers. Then tried giving them away, no takers. I did find someone to give them to for last night's game.

We haven't been able to make it up for basketball this year due to travel but I've tried getting my tickets to others. I'll be there this Friday and next Monday.

he promoted the games and got the students involved for sure. as for the roster excuse, roster turnover has been going on for years. and nil has been around for a minute so if that's truly an issue for some, then why even bother following any sport at all.

apparently the crowds the last two games have been pelphrey level.

We are ranked in the top 20. As you mentioned we best a tpp 10 team in an exhibition and lost by 5 on a neutral court to another very good team. Ehat more do we have to prove to get people that BOUGHT tickets to show up.

We are a backwards thinking fanbase. There is zero reason not to be excited about this season but the fans need to see more? Also us. I'm not gonna give you NIL money to get better players for football until you win more games with less talent.

If I had to blame it on anything, I'd say Muss's shitty effort last year has left a bad taste in people's mouth. We are still hungover from that shitty season.

I agree last years stank probably hasn't completely worn off Also,no returning players to really speak of(besides Brazil's and he was part of the stank),no Arkansas players and it's just bit early. Not to mention, we've played two Wednesday home games and one Monday, against low tier opponents

I'm curious what percentage of season ticket holders are from outside of NWA/Fort Smith (or about an hour's drive).

I can't fault anyone for not driving up from LR or beyond to watch us play Pacific or Troy, especially when it's available via streaming.

My point is, are there enough ticket holders and willing single game purchasers in the immediate area to fill it up for a weak midweek opponent?

and for those who try to give away their tickets, the university started a ticket transfer program last week. you can give them back to the university and they will hand them out.

They used to do this for football and basketball.  You could send in your tickets and they would give you credit towards your next year's donation.  I guess the partnership with SeatGeek negates the desire to give away donation credit.

I heard they resell the tickets instead of giving them away. I could be wrong.

vegashog

no, they have an option if you give them back, they will give them away.

don't think it's legal for the university to resell them.

Since NWA can't represent, we should move the early, non-conf, mid-week games to LR.

CardHog

I've never had an issue selling tickets.

BleedinRed

Of the 15 players on the roster, only one has Arkansas ties; Lawson Blake.  He doesn't play.  The general fan doesn't have a single connection to the team beyond the razorback on the jersey.

I wonder if that hurts or if it doesn't matter at all.

I wonder what the response would be if "they" started blacking out the broadcast in a team's home market.  Wonder if that would help attendance or just piss everyone off.
