Hogs vs. Illinois basketball

Indiana was ranked 14th and got run out by about 30. We have some work to do, but I still like this team. Illinois had their day shooting. We only seem to have our hot games playing shitty teams.

We can't shoot the 3.  In this day of college basketball that's a killer. It's probably the thing you cannot afford the most. 

Illinois has shooters, the coach built his team around the 3. They make 12 a game.

Not gonna lie, that game bummed me out. Illinois is not a great team but they shot lights out. Alabama beat this time by 13 and scored 100 points. Illinois had an answer for every single small run we made. Get it under ten, and then you look up and it's back to 15.  Our veteran shooter took a whopping 3 shots and made one. Aidoo is obviously still not 100%, or just not even close to being game ready conditioning wise. Fland couldn't buy a bucket. The season is far from over but I'm ready to start winning these early season high profile matchups. I'm tired of looking up and seeing the second coming of Steph Curry on the other team.

One thing is for certain: exhibition games between top 3 teams don't mean shit.

I don't understand how Cal could watch tape of him at FAU and now he thinks "that guy needs to be our sniper" that's not his game. He needs the ball in his hands to score off the dribble but so do Boogie and Wagner so I don't know what you do there.

I'd run theough him over Wagner when Boogie is out. He can get to the rim
and make mid range shots.

He had 6 assists today but he HAS to take more than 3 shots a game.

So, as per norm, looks like the concensus of the woopig "brain" trust is that we suck.

We'll be fine...there's legit talent on this team and they don't play like a bunch of dicks. I don't think we are a TOP 25 team right now but I do think we have TOP 10 talent. It's just got to come together. 

This isn't last years' team...most of those guys were only high stat guys because they came from shitty teams and were brought together to create a super shitty team. That might have been the most forgettable roster in my adult life.

I do agree Davis coming off the bench and having him have the ball in his hands when he comes in and maybe rotate the 3 guards instead of playing them all at once. You can slide #3 into that small forward role and have Brazile or Adoo starting to provide some more length. Richmond III to me looks like he's ahead of schedule. I figure Knox is going to get a lot better.

We have to get better at defending the 3 and we must protect the ball.

I don't think Cal is nearly prone to juggling lineups the way Mus did though.
