Bye bye to men's and women's tennis
I need help and I know it.

players still keep their schollies until they get their degree or transfer.

honestly, i never heard a single thing about the tennis program. this won't be the last of it and other sec schools are doing the same thing.

Agreed. The way things are going in mens sports, a lot of other sports will end to keep the main ones afloat.

i think a lot of people underestimated how much of an effect the settlement would have. didn't go on to the books until the last fiscal year and went up $812k for this one.

will end up at about $33 million for the last year paid out.

Lurk

If they cut a couple of "Assistant AD in charge of popcorn sales" type positions they could fund most of these minor sports.

they cut 10% of the athletic staff last year which equaled about $2.5 million. people bitched because it included old timers that had been on the gravy train for years.

sucks for the players in the net loss sports, but do you want a tennis team that did nothing in the sec or more money for football, basketball, and baseball?

The annoying thing is that they'll probably take down the tennis center for a parking deck.  It's a very nice facility as far as campus tennis facilities go.

Then, in about ten years or so when things have normalized a little, they'll get the bright idea to bring tennis back and spend 10 to 20 million on a new facility.

Any update on the football stadium naming rights?

What is the ratio of money spent and money generated of the tennis program vs. the AD?

Who's on the clock now, swimming or does title IX keep it alive?

Seems like we have a lot of 3rd party (learfeild and the NIL company of the month) folks trying to raise money so what are we paying an AD $1.4 mill plus for and how much is the GM from the Celtics making?

They have added more football support staff and need to renovate the Smith Center to accommodate the larger staff.

Lot of chatter that the non-football sports are not happy with the AD and baseball lost a nice chunk of rev share to women's hoops which is massive sink hole at this point.

it's sad, but Razorback sports is about to jump the shark for a lot of folks.

Having to payto support women's sports may drive the men's sports to be in a premier league/NFL-lite faster.

the programs that generate the most income are going to get most of the settlement money, wild idea. to start the first day of the fiscal year over $21 million in the hole requires some coaches getting the the short end of the stick and they'll have to deal with it or go elsewhere if they can. doesn't matter who the ad is, they would be facing the same problems.

the ncaa fucked this up by spending years fighting a losing battle in the interest of "amateur athletics" instead of figuring out a pay for play system where it ended up anyway.
