We've had a few unusual member sign ups lately. Hope you guys like Spam. Apparently email verification is only stopping normal people who are too dumb to open their emails. I'm not sure what additional hoops we can have new members to jump thru to prove they are human...this is likely the limits of this SMF platform.

Do you have Admin Approval set up or is that too much trouble?  I have it set up on a forum I own and I just run the email addresses up against Stop Forum Spam.  If they have any flags, I reject them.

Ideally I'd like real people to be able to sign up and post immediately without approval, especially during an ongoing event like a game or a firing.  But yeah, we can turn on admin review and/or add a security question if it keeps happening.

Edit to add: it looks like 2 of the recent sign-ups could be legit.  I've banned the other 3.

Yeah, I didn't think about that.  It's definitely beneficial if a new member can post immediately.
