Enlighten me on this, please.  I would think the farm raised would be better because they are raised in a controlled environment and you know what they've eaten...kinda like I much prefer buying local beef than anything at a grocery store.  I know where the cow was raised and what it was fed.

Go throw a handful of feed into a catfish pond and watch what happens. 

They are packed in there so tightly that they have no choice but to be swimming in/breathing in/eating each other's shit.  It's just like any other factory farmed meat.  The animals are kept in conditions that are not conducive to their health.  The water requires nearly constant monitoring to make sure it has enough oxygen content to keep the fish alive because it's so densely packed with little water turnover.

That being said, the idea of catfish feeding off detritus, eating shit, whatever is overblown.  SS, Tex and others don't like catfish because they eat shit, but I imagine they're fine with vegetables fertilized with chicken shit, cows that regurgitate and re-eat their own food, etc.  If you get too deep into the life cycle of your food you won't end up finding anything that doesn't gross you out in some way.

Depends on what farm they come from.  I don't eat anything that comes from a place that ends with "ese".

I only eat farm raised from Mississippi.  All corn fed.
