Tornado related...basically what I'm hearing is insurance companies are rubber stamping a lot of shit. A couple weeks ago I go out on a call where the lady had like 3 stories about her freon line being cut. First it was wind damage, then it was maybe her grandson clipping bushes, then another. There's clipped bushes all over the non-maintained back yard. Freon line had been cut and open for months. All the R22 had leaked out and she couldn't make that leap that that stuff is like gold. She kept telling me "they said you can just clamp that back together and it will be fine. They said they could fix it cheap but won't return my calls. I'm like that's not how this works lady and that's why "they" aren't coming back. Well long story short amazingly her insurance company is going to pay for a new system now. She's about a 1/2 mile away from where twister storm track but who knows. I don't figure she'll be able to afford her deductible if I had to guess.

Another call yesterday was a "tornado victim" allegedly so we did a courtesy call. I go over and no obvious storm damage and found some garden variety parts had failed. I wrote it up as "possibly failed due to electrical grid conditions at time of storm such as high voltage surge". At least this one was a couple hundred yards away from the damage. Rubber stamp...Approved.

Drove thru a couple streets where we do a lot of work and several of our customers lost their homes...very sad. A lot of these people are getting very little assistance, Fema won't answer their phone. The city leadership is apparently a joke. A few churches are doing more than anyone else. It sounds like a clusterfuck. One guy said the storm wasn't over 20 mins and there were already looters.

Is the area with looters in Little Rock?

Sumaritan's Purse in our area (Jacksonville) seems to be the one doing a lot of the work in terms of volunteers for those wondering who to donate to that showed up in these tornado communities.

Shawnee OK got fucking hammered.  12 tornadoes.  DiL's dental practice got hammered, oBu and airport hit.  No power.

I was looking at damage online yesterday.  If I still lived in OKC I might have wound up over there working on airport damage.  Everyone I know in the area is fine, hope your family is as well.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

This is the way.  The folks from Samaritan's Purse are still here working, been here since Hurricane Laura, which was August 2020.  If anyone wants to donate to an organization and know your money gets to people in need, give it to these folks.  Avoid the Red Cross.

And a shout out to the the Amish(although I know they won't see this).  They are still sending crews down to help rebuild, they come in the fall and stay through the winter.  I know retired guys who act as their Uber drivers to get them to the various job sites.

FEMA may eventually be helpful, but it takes YEARS to see any money from them.

I can't honestly remember seeing any Red Cross people but they may have been around. Some big group out of Texas came with a mobile shower unit and lots of hands. Basically a super long cargo trailer with shower stalls. I can't recall what the name of that is called but if I run across them again I'll post it here. They may have moved on...things are dying down in terms of out of town volunteers from what I can see. One of my tech's soon to be wife is volunteering a lot of her time right now. In a perfect world I'd love to help but this is my time of the year to make revenue so I have to focus on that. We'll help where we can.

Was it this group?  I'm pretty sure they were here right after the tornadoes hit the LR area.

I never donate to the Red Cross unless there is a dedicated fund for a particular area.  They have high overhead and low actual payouts to the afflicted areas.  Salvation Army is better.  I like the sound of the Samaritan's Purse.

In Golden Colorado right now and it's snowing like a mofo.

Samaritan's Purse is run by Billy Graham's son, I believe. Seems to be a legit, good organization.

It is. This is one of the programs that a lot of the churches down here participate in.

I can say with 100% certainty I don't wanna be on the road anywhere near you with moderate snowfall.

I didn't say it was bad.  Being from Houston where freezing rain goes to die, it was awesome.
