I think "cold as fuck" is a common theme here.

Ok.  Didn't know it was defined like that.  But anyway, it's 18 here.  Cold as fuck.

5 here with a low of -7 tomorrow will be -10.
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

It was 19 when we left Arkansas this morning. We got to Knoxville about 8 tonight and it was 37...felt like I was in Key West. Starting to snow here.

It's a balmy 27 here in God's 2nd home of Virginia.  Supposed to get a full bone HTL overnight, or also referred to as 2".

Hognrock

It is 12 here, feel like temp is -1. We have about 4 inches of dry snow.

I've coached my son's baseball team on field turf in June/July with temp gauges showing 120-130. I'd rather die dehydrated than freeze to death. Fuck this

So, does that mean you will be crying and dry heaving when it's finally over?

You could have shown them things like a typewriter or paper and pen.  Do kids even know how to write words anymore?  I think cursive is a lost art.

Yep, it is.

True story, my oldest taught herself cursive when she was 8. She takes after her mom, because even though I home schooled her for a time, I cant take any credit for that. i bought her the books and encouraged her desire.  The desire was hers. That's rare.

My son attends a private school where they started teaching him cursive last year in the 3rd grade. I like to think that's impressive, but its not.  Sister Emmeline taught me cursive in the 3rd grade. God rest her beautiful soul. What finally convinced him to buckle down and hammer it out was when I challenged him to find me someones autograph, football, baseball, etc., where someone signed their name in print.  A year later and his cursive is on par with my 82 year old mothers whose had a stroke. Progress.

Typewriter?  Does anyone have one of those anymore?

Forgot the obligatory weather report:

I'm in the blue dot in Lexington. She jumped the Shenandoahs and parts of the Blue Ridge and dumped on Richmond before us. Mountain effect pushed the first wave over, but we're still gonna get 1-3". Looks like FNG and USAFhog might get the worst of it closer to the Bay if it doesnt run out of gas first.

30 degrees in Houston with light mist.  The city has shut down.

It is only getting up to 64 today in Foley, AL.  DO I need to wrap my pipes?

(It actually will get down to 22 Tuesday night I think.)

went to an old woman's house yesterday (the son is apparently worthless)

Anyway she's freezing to death so I go. I get there it's 75 degrees in the house. She claims the blower isn't running. <Morgan Freeman voice> The furnace blower was indeed working fine

I go ahead and check it all over anyway. Ended up boosting the fan speed a bit so she can feel that shit. About a month ago I fixed a draft motor that was super loud...I think she's just conditioned to it sounding noisy as fuck.

Anyway the point of this is to say I went ahead and walked around the house and put on the faucet covers, opened the door to the water heater and see that it's about to explode/freeze/rot out and pretended to not see that. And moved on...

FNG got smart and retired to Southern Pines (Pinehurst) where the good Lord goes to relax; consequently, the weather is always beautiful here.  ;D

BleedinRed

Snowing in Houston and surrounding areas now.  City is in stage 5 panic mode.

Lurk

It's been alternating light sleet to snow since 2:00 yesterday. Sleet is really coming down right now.

In cleaning up my mom's shit I'm finding her writing and letters from grandmothers and aunts.  The handwriting is amazing.  It's impeccable and flowing, no errors, and perfect.  Even at 80+ years.  Even my dad's writing is impeccable.  I can barely print anymore
