I tell my kids the weather people will always exaggerate the forecasts. Especially since that snow storm in 2000 when they totally missed it and it snowed a foot.

Oh, God. I remember that day. I was picking up some of my stuff in west Texas before driving back to Ft. Smith a few days before moving to Ft. Worth.

We left around 0600. Everything was going well until we hit Ft. Worth. It was mostly ice coming down.  Once we hit the Oklahoma border it turned the snow. What an experience. What is usually just a 12 hour drive, we didn't get to Ft. Smith until around midnight, I think. Saw lightning as well while it snowed.

Heard about the school fiasco driving up and from my mom. Laughed at the incompetence.

I don't miss the Oklahoma cold.  This stuff in Arkansas gives me the warm and fuzzy feelings.  Up in Piedmont you could add in days of sustained 30 mph winds along with the single-digit air.
