Hopefully in a losing effort.

The big question is why Vandy didn't extend the padding to the ground.  There is about an 8-12" gap at the bottom that leaves exposed brick/concrete.  Same in the outfield.

Let's don't make this another nail biter.

Nice job, Bass! Way to bring us back. Great sweep, Hogs!

They were good and very non-biased. I enjoyed listening to them too.

BASS

We are firing in all phases of the game right now.

Pitching, hitting, defense. We make a mistake here and there and we just keep on rolling, no sweat.

Hope we haven't peaked too soon and we are just this good. This is the kind of pitching and hitting that wins Natty's.

We didn't even use McEntire, Coil and a couple others.  We need to stay healthy on the pitching side.

We used surprisingly few arms this weekend.

- the 3 starters went a combined 18.1 innings
- Bybee went 4.0
- Jimy went 3.2
- Carter went 1.0
- Wiggins went 1.0

Yep, but in the past we only had a couple of guys that could actually hit. It seems that everyone on this team (starters) and some subs can hit. You never know who is going to step up. And we have a lot of good pitchers. Hopefully we can keep it going. What I like, is if we give up a run or two, we go out and get them back.

Once again, thanks @BASS for taking up  the slack. Nice job. And you are on call now and may need to fill in again any time.

That's about as good as you could ask for.

The last few years, it seemed we were lucky if we could get 5 innings out of our starters. We are doing much better in that regard.

Wasn't the Vandy crew today.   Don't know who the PBP guy was, but the color guy was Mike Rooney of ESPN Bases Loaded and D1Baseball.com.

Yeah, last year, having the aloy brothers go 7-27 would have cost us a couple games in a weekend. We barely noticed.

Just a numbers game.  I'm sure it will happen at some point, probably in a home regional or super, but it's hard to get nine guys completely shitting the bed all at once.

Really both Aloys and Iredale are cold now, but we have others picking up the slack.  Even Souza and Helfrick are showing signs of

Thomas who is our 9 hole hitter sucks at OF but can hit. He reminded me of that yesterday. Makes a boneheaded play in CF then comes up the next inning and hits a HR. Not trying to get the cart in front of the horse but it's hard to find a weak spot in our team at this point. Maybe we haven't ID'd our true closer/Koppsesque guy.

Interesting.  Their commentary during the game was clearly aligned with Vandy.  Assumed that was Vandy's typical broadcast crew when their home games are on tv.

The PBP guy may be affiliated with them, but it wasn't the same guy who called the Saturday game.

Rooney is usually pretty positive about the Hogs on the D1 podcast and ESPN.  They did seem to be favoring the home team a bit though.

I'm wondering if they don't eventually move Davalan back to CF and have JTJ move to a corner OF spot to mitigate his defensive liability.
