Hell yeah that's great news. Maybe we can just skip football season this year.

Barton Fink

Ament to TN. I think we've done better in the portal.

vegashog

we got a lot of money left if cal wants a couple more to fill out the roster.

Barton Fink

I think he will take 1-2 more. We have a damn good roster as is if Knox returns.

vegashog

he can go get some vets that can probably contribute if they have to unlike the walkons that were at the end of the bench.

make practice a lot better if nothing else.

Gambler

A couple of sharp shooters would be nice.

HughJasole

as much as I hate him, i'd take Chad Baker-Mazara

I may hate him too much to be supportive of that move.

Walking technical.

vegashog

portal closes tomorrow night, maybe there's one or two that declare cal might be interested in.

also those that entered the portal but are waiting for their nba evals. i bet he has his eye on one or two of those guys.

In a world where Nico can sell himself to the highest bidder and the NCAA has no power or regulatory authority, what effect is a "portal window"?

If in the first week of fall camp, before classes start, a Michigan WR decides to come on down to Arkansas, and all of the following occurs.... won't all of the following occur?

1) UofA admits him as a student
2) Booster/NIL pays him
3) Pittman plays him

I realize I switched sports from basketball to football, but football is next.

vegashog

if the player has entered the portal during the time allowed (like nico did), he can wait as long as he wants up to the enrollment cut off date of the school. that's always been true in the portal era.

nico wanting more money had nothing to do with the portal window.

You didn't answer the question.

If a Michigan WR wants to transfer the first week of fall practice, what's stopping him? The NCAA sure won't.

Barton Fink

I don't think anyone has attempted this. (yet)

i did.

if you mean what's stopping the guy from spending the time and money to take the ncaa to court and probably missing most if not all the season while it gets resolved, then nothing.

and, in your scenario, why would pittman (or petrino) want to wait thru that for a guy that has not gone thru fall camp and doesn't even know the playbook. it makes no sense. there's the "what if" and the practical.

Why would the player have to go to court? Wouldn't the NCAA have to go to court? And they keep losing.

The NCAA can't enforce its alleged rules that players are to be paid for Name Image or Likeness. Instead, players are being paid for playing college sports.

The NCAA can't enforce its alleged rules that players only have a certain number of years of eligibility. Instead, the NCAA is being told that junior college years don't count.

Why in the world would the NCAA be able to enforce "transfer portal window" rules?

It's a sham like anything else, is my point.

How reliable is McPherson? He tweeted that the coaching staff is content with the 10 guys we currently have, and Knox is included in that 10. I really, really hope that isn't the case and that Cal learned that intentionally tying one hand behind your back with a short bench isn't a good strategy.

Not very.

I suppose that was put out for leverage with guys they are still pursuing.

Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

Musselman hated McPherson. Pretty sure he tried to get him banned. He's a banker that I guess turned his hobby of covering hoops in Arkansas into his full-time gig, and the bozos over at Nobville are more than happy to promote his drivel.

yep, muss wanted him gone but had to settle for a two week time out.

there was that letter that was sent to his home, and muss had a pretty good idea mcpherson was behind it as he was riling up the nobville horde because jaylen tate was getting minutes instead of kj robinson.
