With Dietz going down, and a nice lead already on Texas, DVH using Gaeckle instead of saving to start tomorrow, tells me he thinks we can host if we beat Texas. He wants this one.

The consensus is that Ole Miss played themselves out of hosting by losing to Mizzou in round 1, and because the committee factors that midweek loss to Mississippi State into their conference record (which puts them at 15-17).

Beating Tennessee and Texas helped our RPI bigly. Now we have 19 SEC wins, which gives us a leg up.

We had Oregon in as a Top 16 host in our last iteration of this exercise on Friday, but we have a new host in this field, and it is Arkansas. The Razorbacks finished the year with a solid standing in the Southeastern Conference, and is 2-0 at the SEC tournament with an aggregate SEC record of 19-13 entering Saturday's game against Auburn. The Hogs do have a relatively low RPI for a host at 21 as compared to Mississippi State at 13 and Oregon at 16. However, the head-to-head comparisons to State and Oregon are tough sells vs. Arkansas' resume, in our opinion. For instance, in addition to having the head-to-head series win over Mississippi State, Arkansas is 17-12 vs. Q1, 20-14 vs. Q1/Q2. By comparison, MSU is 9-14 vs. Q1 and 13-17 vs. Q1 and Q2. Though MSU holds the edge over Arkansas by several spots in the RPI, the DSR and KPI are closer...
