I could legit see Petrino wanting to stay on as OC if it means working under somebody that's not retarded. He doesn't have to do nearly as much media and can just do his thing.

He was a great oc for the jags. If we could get gruden and keep BMFP...gotta stop, I can only get so hard before I break something.

That may sway my vote

I could not see a serious coach coming to Arkansas to work for that clown.  It would be a parade of Nutt mafiosos until long after I'm in the ground.  In football and basketball for sure, and probably baseball too.

What experience does this mother fucker have to be an AD? He has not had a job in over a decade and the last job was riddled with violations. We already gave this mother fucker enough money
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

I'll take the counter position.  I think Nutt as AD would be fine.  He ins't nearly as bad as some of you want to remember him.

Not so fast, my friend! Kansas State has to win one sometime.

He was the least organized person we've had in a coaching position.  Yes, that includes Morris.  Do you really want someone who likely can't even balance his checking account and probably has 15,000 unread email notifications running an organization of that size?

Remember that this is the guy who couldn't think beyond the current year in terms of planning a roster.  Short on LBs this year?  Sign 10 of them and no CBs.  Next year when you don't have enough corners, sign 12 of them and no WRs.  We always had at least one position group that was nearly out of qualified personnel, in spite of the fact that Nutt was pretty good at recruiting and identifying players (outside of QB).

Nutt would be good in a fundraising role.  That's about it.

This is true of every corch we have ever had.  We have always had at least one poistion group that was nearly out of qualified personnel.

Nutt did suck at QB identification and development.

That would be one leaky ship. The entire SEC will know everything going on in our program

Not to that degree, and not with a coach that was a good of an individual recruiter as Nutt could be.

That being said, I don't want any of our other former head coaches as AD either, unless AI can regenerate 1975-1988 Frank Broyles.

the "circle of untrustables".

as mentioned, there's a reason that idiot hasn't had a coaching job in 15 years. he didn't even rate for the new mexico st. opening.

I wouldn't touch any version of Frank Broyles ever.  The guy was a good coach.  He was an absolutly shitty AD.  Exhibit A: look at the head coaches he passed on in favor of who he hired.  Exhibit B: look at what he did to Nolan.

I legit don't understand why people keep thinking Nutt is a serious candidate for the AD spot if/when it opens. He hasn't worked a regular gig in years now and has ZERO experience as any kind of administrator or as a GM type which will be more of a requirement moving forward. Even in his prime Nutt's main motivation was to find a cushy soft spot somewhere (between Donna's legs) and only got off his ass when it looked like he was gonna get fired by Paw Paw.

This is certainly an Arkansas fan's worst nightmare and we can't help ourselves from thinking that we'll hire the way programs hired 40 years ago. But that's unlikely to be the case. We'll hire some gender neutral Wal-mart approved simp and you'll be told to like it.

Let's take a look back at how he filled his staffs...nearly all were yes men or people who wouldn't threaten his ego. Obvious exception being Malzahn who was forced on him as a condition of continued employment.

Do you see him hiring someone like Calipari or even Musselman?  And can you imagine Nutt in a negotiation with his own agent?

JFB was a great AD...one of the best in the country...up until about the mid-late 80s, which was why I specified the time frame.  Think what you will of him based on the last 20 or so years he was there, but without his influence before senility set in Arkansas would likely be in Conference USA or some similar mid-major shitpile right now.

Hatfield over Johnson was absolutely a defensible move at the time it happened.  Ken was national coach of the year, having just won ten games at Air Force (which was a 2-3 win team annually prior to his arrival) and beaten Notre Dame in South Bend.  Johnson was piddlefarting around winning 6-7 per year in Stillwater.  Obviously hindsight tells us JFB made the wrong move, but he didn't have that benefit at the time.

Sutton and Holtz were obviously great hires.  Ford was on paper.  And yes he botched the handling of Nolan, but he also hired Nolan when no one else at a comparable program would have.  Also remember that he tried to hire Tommy Tuberville over Nutt...had an agreement with him before Quinn Grovey fucked it up....and Bill Self over Stan Heath...also had a verbal deal with him before John White botched it in a DEI move.

Okay. You win the argument.  Frank reincarnate would be a good move.

I mean, if we can bring him back could we not also get some former players to join him?
