Quote from: animal on Sep 07, 2025, 09:32 AMI thought they called his name during the game but I never saw him but also was only half paying attention in my haste to find my Oregon cheerleaders.

They mentioned his name as getting in a scuffle.

I think he's hurt.

Wait, I'm thinking of the other kid.

He's on the participation report for both games this year but doesn't have any targets.

Same.

I'm somewhat optimistic about our offense with a full year of Petrino's system under their belts. Our receivers run crisp routes and seem to be able to catch the football. Pass pro seems to have taken a step forward but run blocking may have taken a step back.

I'm a bit dubious of our RB stable. Also, Green's mechanics still look like shit, he's still not seeing wide open receivers downfield, and he's still throwing sidearm passes that get knocked down at the LOS. There were a few times where he'd throw to the 5 yard dig route that was double covered and completely overlooking a receiver wide open down the field.

He stuck it to Drinkwitz. Soaked up some good nil money and bailed.

We're #18!!

Of course, they have Oregon, Texas, Alabama and USC in the Top 5. LSU is 15th, which means it's the 9th highest SEC team.

Is Laura Rutledge's kid doing the rankings?

The analysis on SECN roundup was "maybe we are sleeping on Arkansas a little bit."

We'd have to win on Saturday to really make anyone pay attention, I think.

Teams have been sleeping with Arkansas for years so it makes sense I guess. We're everyone's cheap date.

Quote from: vegashog on Sep 07, 2025, 10:05 AMfour sacks and ten tackles for loss. acting like they pushed us around.

you don't think they have shown everything on defense against a swac and a sunbelt opponent do you? of course things get harder but to say this is the best we'll be is a little premature i think.

No, I'm not acting like they pushed us around at all. lol.

Nor am I saying it's the "best" we'll get.  I'm simply saying a lot of that pressure we did generate we will not have in conference play.  Given how out of position our D seems to be on numerous plays, and the arm tackling, and less pressure than what we saw... it's a concern. Our real opponents will make us pay for those mistakes much more than the cupcakes we've played.

What I'm saying is... we looked better on O.  D I am unconvinced on, and think will be a problem.  Remains to be seen if the OL can hold up enough against the better talent we'll face.  Essentially, I'm stating the obvious lol.

To me we look small on defense especially on the back end. Is Larry Worth not playing? I know he's a bigger guy as a versatile db/lb type. I just thought he had another year and haven't noticed him.

The open field tackling should improve as the season goes on. Would like to see better pursuit to the ball.

I think among the biggest things I've seen is we seem to bite on a lot of shit and get taken way out of position.

As Vegas say I highly doubt we've seen all this defense has to offer...probably have kept it fairly plain. But that's also cope so we'll feel better about ourselves for a more days.

Night game in Oxford when they have a lot to play for, and a lot to prove, and a coach that has a hard on for putting half a hundred on us whenever possible.

Not a great combination for us.

I thought the defense played quite a bit better, especially the LB's. The DLine played well but we seem pretty thin at DT and DE. I thought Kani Walker looked like a real SEC corner. I still have some serious doubts about this team against SEC teams but we'll see.

Agree, Walker looked really good. Hopefully Oke comes back soon and provides some help up front.

We didn't look bad against a really good QB. He made a lot of plays.
