Agree.  I still maintain we had to take two of three against SC.  

With LSU losing 2 of three to the worst team in conference, we move to the top of the SEC pecking order from a rankings perspective.

the SEC office doesn't want to move it though everyone else wants it to.
No telling what Hoover pays and gives them to let them host it.
in reality, the tournament means nothing except if you are trying to make the NCAAT or you are LSU, who actually tries to win it.

I can't remember where I read this, and don't know if it was accurate, but I recall seeing in the past that another city (Memphis?) placed a higher bid for the tournament but was rejected in favor of Hoover.  That tells me that someone inside the SEC office is personally profiting somehow...why else would they take less money to keep it in an inferior site? 

There are a ton of equal or better minor league parks in the SEC footprint that could host the event on a rotating basis.

It's not like this event sells out a ton anyway. 

I'm not anti Hoover by any means.  The ballpark sucks, but the grounds are pretty nice and they do a reasonably good job of running the event.  It would just be nice to have it rotate every now and then.  Plus I hate to see those corrupt fucks (the same ones who fuck us with officiating, scheduling, etc) further enrich themselves on something that could be done better elsewhere.

yes. Memphis appeared to have it til the vote in Destin to keep it in Hoover.

now that the Barons play in downtown Birmingham there is nothing other than high school football that happens at the Met. Hell - playing at Rickwood Field in Birmingham would make more sense.
Why Hoover? It doesn't draw unless Bama and/or Auburn play and they are marginal at best. LSU fans will travel wherever so that's a push.
it makes no sense to keep it in Hoover, hell, even the football championship moved to a new locale but not baseball.
unless it has changed - there one way in and one way out and traffic is awful.
of course, this is the $EC - it ju$t mean$ more. Wonder how much Hoover is paying them.

I don't get why some throw out anywhere in Texas or Florida as realistic options for the SEC baseball tournament.  Same for St Louis or Kansas City.  All these locations are located so far outside of the central SEC school locations.  

Atlanta is a little too far East but is doable.  Memphis may be a little more centrally located but then why not just keep it in Alabama.  

I would imagine the simple answer is Hoover has hosted it forever and at this point it is a matter of convenience for the SEC office and the planning they have to do.  I doubt there is some grand conspiracy.

i think the contract with hoover is thru the 2024 season.

it was set to expire a couple of years ago but was pushed out because of covid.

Everything the SEC ever does is set up in such a way as to benefit Alabama the most.  Everyone knows this.
