Maybe I'm a bit sensitive to coaches coming and making comments with expectations. I've already heard "blown away" by recruiting, "win a national championship", and "we're gonna kick the other teams ass". I'd rather hear more of your plan to do it. Very well may just be me....

It's tiresome, but only because we're not far enough removed from Chad Morris.  He's far from the only coach to come in spewing fake optimism...most of them do it...it just so happens we heard it from the worst coach in SEC history. 

It wasn't the sayings or the fake theatrical bullshit that made Chad a bad coach. He was a bad coach because he's a fucking moron to the core and he wasn't willing to work hard enough to overcome his stupidity.  And on top of that he surrounded himself with a staff full of guys who were either well past their prime (Chavis and Caldwell) or who were every bit as dumb and/or lazy as he was.

Well, the dude doesn't lack for confidence.  It also seems as if he has been thinking about and maybe even planning for this particular job for a long time, like maybe he has had his eye on it for years.  If so, maybe he has given it enough thought that he has very specific plans and ideas on what is wrong and what needs to be done. 

There might be something to be said for a guy who actually wanted and planned for our job as opposed to a payday and opportunity to advance.

There was a rumor that broke on 11/6 that we had an agreement with Silverfield.  Most dismissed it as internet bullshit. However, after that date he made contact with multiple 4-star recruits from Arkansas who were committed elsewhere (as Memphis coach).  Coincidentally or otherwise, this was the start of Memphis' three game losing streak.

Just a wild ass conspiracy theory here.  Silverfield news broke three weeks ago and went over like a fart in church.  So, they needed the perception that they were still looking and maybe even whiffed on other choices like Golesh, to make it more palatable to the fans and maybe some boosters.  So, that's why you get the Golesh leak.

Perhaps.  Honestly, I don't give a fuck about the pageantry.  I also wonder if it's more of a choice to delay it and let RS hit the ground on recruiting and player retention since the portal and signing day are here.  He's got what?  3 days?  Plus needs to hire assistants and all kinds of other stuff in very short order.

Lots of people reporting that he has been hitting up the local recruits, which may or may not be bullshit... But if true, then I'm good with them skipping the dog and pony show.  Just go get a staff and a team together.  With no bowl practices or anything else coming, there will be plenty of time for glad handing and unenthused hog calls.

Plus, if he can flip some of those in-state kids and get them signed on Wednesday it gives him and the program some positive momentum for the press conference.
