I'd see if I could hire Bobby in one of those off field analyst jobs.

Was just thinking the same thing. If he wants to still be connected to the program that would be a great role for him. On the other hand Silverfield may not want "help" from anyone on the prior staff. I don't think you turn down that kind of help though. Hell Bobby may just want to ride out his days teaching QBs and not even be a play caller/head coach anymore.

I believe I saw that Silverfield is bringing his OC from Memphis.

Wouldn't hate it, but I feel like we could potentially do better.

I'm not super impressed with their offense.  I get that it is spread and has worked well in the AAC.  However, I feel like a pro style offense will work best here.  I'd love to see a pro style guy come in.  Or Bobby with Mallet, not Lamar.  I feel like that's what works best for us historically.

they don't run that offense in high schools anymore and it's not like you take a dual threat qb and a bunch of o-linemen who have been coached zone blocking for 3-4 years and do it in an offseason.

Coaches have had to remove the complexity from their offenses because they're turning over their rosters every year and the installation process is microwaved.

I've blamed Gus for years for dumbing it down. It worked but now it seems everyone's doing it in high school, it's infected college, and you can see it bleeding into the NFL now.

I believe Yuri told Bobby his time was done.  Don't blame him.  We need to clean house; and Bobby might say he'd be happy in a subordinate role that's not realistic.  People don't change to low roles and become soldiers when they've been generals.  They run different offenses.  Silverfield and crew run a very different operation in S&C, accountability, recruiting, retention, etc. 

In my career Ive seen that kind of situation and it never works.  They can't subsume themselves.  And Bobby knows it.

In the real world you are correct. In the coaching world maybe not so much. It's not entirely unreasonable or even unheard of for a coach toward the end of their career to take a step back into a lesser role. Hell Bobby has already done it twice. I do agree it's very unlikely he'll be doing it at Arkansas whatever he does. Many ex-head coaches take analyst roles some are paid very well to be "in the room" and give their opinions. 

From a scheme perspective I think people are correct in that it takes time & continuity to install a complex system. In Bobby's defense this season the offense wasn't really the issue. We all know if the defense had any pulse at all we win enough to go to a shitty bowl. If we hadn't been rode hard and put up wet by the officials in a couple of games...we probably can add a couple wins. If our idiot QB doesn't go brain dead at some weird times we probably could add a 1 or 2 wins. Bobby's system was far from the problem...but Bobby as a head coach I remain of a mind that he didn't need to be head coach anymore. Maybe it's asking a lot of a coach for taking over a staff assembled by Pittman and somehow making it work on a interim basis. All that game management snafus could have been correctable by how Bobby likes things organized and those things are worked on in the spring and August not mid-season. Just having people in place that know what he's thinking and can anticipate it could have made a huge difference in how things played out. 

Nevertheless I won't be shocked if he's in the SEC next season as somebodies OC or QB coach. Does he golf? South Carolina maybe. Nice little golden years gig.
