@Son of Spam  Our boy, the Alex Collins mini-me (Lawrence Autry) from Collierville, signed with West Virginia. I was told he would follow Sumrall but Sumrall might have told him he wasn't ready for the SEC.  Maybe we can pick him up in a year or two thru the portal after some development.

This signing day shit so close to the season ending really fucks schools extra hard who fired their coach and it really didn't seem to help anyone but the schools that quietly fired and hired within a day or two. You pretty well know those schools made up their mind far sooner. 

BUT that should be a deterrent to not fire so quickly or risk ending up like Pedo State. Who probably will end up having to hire an NFL guy to save phace.

and with monday starting a dead period, new coaches are really screwed. then you have the portal less than a month later.

Why are there even dead periods now? Shouldn't all of the old recruiting rules go out the window? It's like they're doing everything they can to kill football.

Recruiting used to be one of my favorite threads out here. Now, what's the point?

I don't even get the portal because it seems like you can pick up and are picking up transfers all the time except during the actual season.

I had no idea it was going on back then. I know a guy that played in the 60's. I'll ask him about it when I see him.

This is where we have consistently been. Transfer portal rankings have been similar. If NIL stsys as is, and the talent evaluators say we have bottom 4 talent in our conference year over year, what are the realistic expectations?

If Silverfield is remotely competent he will at least improve marginally. 

The last three days of recruiting have shown what many of us believed...that Pittman wasn't working anywhere near as hard as this job requires.   Combine that with average at best strategic ability and we were destined to fail. 

Many if not most of our donor base just want to be acknowledged for their contributions. They want the head coach to show them some attention and actively ask for their help.  In other words, they want their asses kissed.   Pittman only seemed to do that when it benefitted him...when he could travel with the booster to watch their horse run in the Kentucky Derby for example.  Silverfield seems willing to do some of his own fundraising.   If he will do that, we will be back to middle of the pack on the recruiting lists soon.
