When I saw the link I thought he might have gotten one of those 5th or 6th year exceptions.
Oak Grove in the house.

surprised Casey didn't make it in the bigs...helluva catcher, at least defensively
Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

No bat.

I knew that was his weakness, but I thought he would be good enough at the plate to make a roster somewhere.

True, there are plenty of MLB catchers who can't hit.  You would have thought he could catch on as a short term backup at least.

He was great at throwing out runners at second

One of my favorite Hogs ever.  Awesome move!

Feral

Opitz was never exactly Mike Piazza at the plate, but he was a hell of a defensive player behind it.

Had a cannon for an arm, called a great game, and was one of the best blockers I've ever seen (which is something we've struggled with in recent years).

His ability to keep Kopps's cutter in front of him was downright amazing. More than a few of those dirtball strikeouts would have wound up at 1st base with lesser catchers.

BleedinRed

We have had a great catcher behind the plate for a decade plus now.

Good. It's about time.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

DrMongoose

Good for dvh amd for warnes who will make 180,000

Where is hunter finding all this money after constantly saying we didn't have any?

Or is he trying to curry favor to get his own extension?

Of all times to do this, why now?

He was never leaving.

This seems like the Pittman extension.

I'm assuming Yurachek got out negotiated yet again.
I'm on smoko, so leave me alone.

vegashog

the contract added one year, this was more about the bump in pay. it was pretty well known he was very unhappy about the funding for the program so the not going anywhere part was not necessarily true.

yurachek made the stupid comments about money a year ago, things have obviously changed so i'm not sure why that keeps being brought up.

DrMongoose

I think the biggest surprise was DVH is a client of one Jimmy Sexton.

It honestly wouldn't shock me one bit if a few years down the road we discover HY was getting kickbacks from Sexton for the contracts his coaches signed.
