Remember when Lane ditched Tennessee after a year and they went through a series of embarressing and nigh-disastrous hires?

Are you sure you remember it?

Derek Dooley had three years, winning 6, 5, and 5 games before getting canned. Then they nearly hired Greg Schiano but the fans revolted and the whole AD melted down before Butch Jones was hired. The whole thing made Tennessee a national laughingstock. After that, Butch Jones won 5, 7, 9, 9, and 4 and they fired him. Then Jeremy Pruitt won 5, 8, and 3*(2020 Covid Year), and they fired him. Then came Josh Heupel, who won 7, 11, 9, 10, and 8. This year, they've won 4 and will probably win another 5 or 6 in the regular season.

My point is this: They hired Dooley in 2010, and over the past 16 years, they've fired three coaches and are on their fourth. During that stretch, they only settled for a losing record two years in a row from a coach before firing him.

Arkansas settles for far less than Tennessee. They kept churning through coaches, hiring and firing every few years until they finally landed on one that made them respectable again. We've been doing that too, and we're a laughingstock too, but Tennessee was never as bad as we are, and they tolerated far less than we do.

Anything in a band between 2 and 4 TDs will hold my interest.
