Someone made a good point on SEC Rant that the reality of modern day college football is that programs can rise and fall more quickly now. Bama was playing for the NC 2 years ago, and now they look like a 7-5 team.

The portal/NIL giveth and taketh away, and it's really hurt the depth of programs like Alabama and Georgia.

Normally they'd have a 2 deep made up of experienced 4 and 5 stars, but now that depth is comprised more and more of freshmen since that second level is transferring to start elsewhere (see Drew Sanders).

One would hope that means better days are on the horizon for us, but we always choose the wrong times to shit the bed and to be good.
