Olajuwon:
PTS   TRB   AST   STL   BLK
32.8   11.5   5.5   2.0   2.0

Shaq:
PTS   TRB   AST   STL   BLK
28.0   12.5   6.3   0.3   2.5

Olajuwon had 117 FG attempts to Shaq's 74. That means he took 10 more shots per game to average 4.8 points more than Shaq. He might've got the better of him, but I wouldn't call that making him his bitch.

BASS

Don't bring facts to my 28 year old memories.

Shaq didn't shoot as much because he couldn't. The dream was all over him in the half court offense.

Yep Hakeem in old age was better than Shaq as a young man. I think at this point it was polish and experience vs brute force.

Quote from: HOGSRUNWILD on Jun 14, 2023, 08:17 AMWatching David Robinson be crafty with him to blunt his power was amazing to watch though.

The Admiral has always been my favorite center. I know he wasn't the best of all-time but there were a few years where he was arguably the best in the league. He's gotta be in the Top 10 of all-time though. I still remember the day they kept feeding him and he put up 71 to edge Shaq for the scoring title on the last day of the season.

And as far as the power goes...yes, Shaq was huge...but Robinson wasn't exactly a pushover.

He is absolutely one of the reasons I went to the Naval Academy.  He was so composed, well spoken, intelligent and just a great person.  I wanted to be just like him and admired the shit out of him as a person and a ball player.  I came off OK on most of them except the great person part, but oh well.

As far as I know, he never had any controversy and helped make Timmy into the player he became.  He was as much responsible for the decade of Spur's success as Pop as Robinson set the tone and molded Duncan in his image.  Since Duncan, who was an extension of Robinson, retired, the Pop hasn't really been setting the world on fire...  I think Pop got too much credit for the Spur's culture and Robinson didn't get enough.

Agreed. The Culture.

I'm guessing you already know, but for others that don't, he actually came to SA when, even though he had been the #1 pick, two years earlier, he didn't have to bc his 2 years of duty excluded him.

He kept his word and still came and played, but his coach was all of a sudden Larry Brown at that time. They did some things and LB, as usual, jumped around during that period. I think Tark was next after he lost Grandmama. Not sure. But my favorite team at that time and the trash can I bought from Team Spirit in University Mall was San Antonio Spurs.

Hand on the family Bible, the Alamodome never gets built without David Robinson.

Robinson and Tim were an awesome duo.  I enjoyed watching that team play as much as any of the Bulls teams.  Pure basketball skill and IQ.

The league was so good back in those days.

HOGSRUNWILD

He was usually fairly soft spoken, but to a man, nobody in the league wanted to fuck with David Robinson.  He might lay hands on you and have a prayer meeting on your body laying on the court after he knocks the shit out of you though...

Brad Beal

You put him on the Suns is he like the 3rd or 4th option on the team? He's a 200 million dollar guy and the Wizards were getting 23pts per game out of him. That's good money if you can get it. Anyway sure he's probably excellent for a 3rd option on a super friends team but I don't see this putting the Suns in a position to win a championship. The trend has been the teams winning rings are actual the fuck teams and not a bunch of tossed together super stars.

He's probably the best third option in the league now, plus the Suns didn't give up shit to get him really. I would imagine they try to move Ayton for some better role players because I agree this move alone doesn't win them a championship.

the beal trade could end up being a very good thing for gafford.

he signed a 3yr - $40 million contract extension last year but was it contingent on the wizzards keeping him on the roster for the upcoming season. talk was if they decided to keep beal, then gafford was more than likely going to get moved before the contract kicked in.

Saw where Anthony Black is projected to go #8 to the Wizards in the first round. Would be cool to see AB lobbing alley oops to Gafford for the next few years.
I really don't care, Margaret.

Word is Utah is trying to trade up to get Black.

Latest NBA mock on ESPN this morning has AB up to #6, NSJ down to #22, Walsh at #41, and RC4 out altogether.

There will no doubt be some trades and what not today/tonight, but they tend to have some pretty accurate NBA inside sources.

I think this implies for the naysayers around here that the "knee management" was/is a legit issue.

Sounds to me like he isn't really impressing in the tryouts.  Which wouldn't be surprising to some of us.

Maybe I phrased that wrong...I wasn't trying to be snarky. I was on the fence about was/wasn't going on the whole time this year.

You may be right about the workouts. It's also plausible that the workouts haven't gone as well because of a knee issue.

I'm just excited to hear a few players from Arkansas to be called tonight. I wish them nothing but the best.

Also the Wizards just traded CP3 to the Warriors for Jordan Poole and some other crap. I think this could be good for Moody and their plans for him in the future.

Wizards are just dumping stuff right and left now. Then Kuzma declines his player option and wants out. I don't really know what this means for Gafford, but they are going to be terrible for quite a spell if they don't have any sorta plan in the works.
