Yeah, there's a chance Dame misses all of the 2025-26 season. Portis has the player option to go into free agency this summer. Iirc he took less than market value to stay in Milwaukee last time he re-upped. Curious to see what he does w/ Dame being out. It's going to be a weak free agent class this summer so it's a good time for him to go get paid or at least hook up w/ a better contender.

In my brain it's laughable that the stat nerds had everyone convinced that these kinds of stat lines are mathematically better attempting a high volume of 3s vs making 2s at a much higher clip. If your average NBA team can make a comeback from say 15 down in a matter of a few possessions because of triples it's somewhat hard to argue that point. 

Realize that if one team is working for good shots, making 2s, using clock and the other team is pissing fire from the beyond the arc...it's hard to compete with that without fighting fire with fire.  So Curry's influence on the game while it has murdered any watchable aspect of the game it's almost a necessity to play this way now. This also goes toward the Nolan/Mike school of shooting early and often increases your possessions and chances of winning in some quasi way.

I still believe that the teams that play great defense and play great team basketball tend to be the teams still standing in the end. There are outliers to that now and then.

Boston lives and dies by the three.  They had a 20-point lead and blew it.  They couldn't throw it in the ocean in the last 5 minutes of regulation and overtime.  
That was an old-school NBA game.  I thought I was watching Pistons-Celtics from back in the day.  No blood, no foul in the 4th quarter.

Except for the whole chucking 3s every possession. Bad Boy Pistons and Celtics weren't doing that.

I'm not against the whole analytical taking more 3s approach, but if they're not going in at an accurate enough clip, a coach has to step in and be like, "look, let's try to work the ball inside or get fouled, and if that doesn't work, take a better shot then just forcing up a 3."
