I didn't realize the government was infringing on her first amendment rights while she worked for ESPN.   Shame on them for doing such a thing.

Pretty sure she wanted to address the trans movement in female sports and the impact it has on girls/women. ESPN/Disney wouldn't have it.

Yep...she's not a liberal, so she's treated different/unfairly at ESPN.

That is not a First Amendment issue.

Being able to give your opinion on a subject and your employer telling/threatening you that you can't?

I believe the first amendment only applies to government limiting those things. I don't know how it applies to media outlets that have their noses as far up a Democrat admin's ass as ESPN does.  There's great piles of proof of the government, specifically Democrat administrations, colluding with tech companies to censor people.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Technically, yes it's a government issue but those lines are getting more blurry by the day.

Yeah, most folks' understanding of the Constitution is pretty abysmal.
You have to right to freely express your opinion; you just don't have the freedom of consequences from expressing your opinion.
Oak Grove in the house.

He'd have a different opinion if she were white. Principled bunch here.

What does race have to do with the proper application of the First Amendment?

DrMongoose

good grief, she was paid to read sports stories off a teleprompter.

just like athletes and celebrities, who really gives two shits what they think about anything?

ah, the power of being on the tv.

I think in her case she is leaving because she didn't want to be some fool reading what's on the teleprompter.
"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

not a layoff, but barry melrose steps down due to parkinson's.

my interest in the nhl is strictly casual, but imo the guy was probably the best hockey talking head there ever was.

He was good. Hate to hear that.

This is true.  First amendment only restricts the government's right to regulate speech, not your employer's.  In some states (like Arkansas and Texas) you can be fired if you say something your employer doesn't like (assuming you don't have some sort of written contract or collective bargaining agreement, etc).

Barry was the best, bet he would be a blast to share a beverage or 2 with,  sad to hear the news.

SVP is the only thing I ever watch (and rarely do I watch that) on ESPN.

I'm not a hockey fan but Barry Melrose is the best at it IMO.

Other than that it's only games that I watch.  I relish the days of good ole Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight.  While in college, me and my roommate, who was also on the baseball team, would watch Baseball Tonight every damn night.  Loved it.

Texzilla

I watch Peyton and Eli on their Monday nights.  Nothing else that's not a live game.
