Thank you, Nick Smith Jr., for all your hard work and effort as a Razorback. Thanks to your parents and the others who allowed you to come back to the team and play after your knee inury. I truly hope that you have a long and successful career in the NBA.

With that being said, I am glad the so-called "Nick Smith Jr. Era" is over.

Saw some grumbling that Devo might be thinking about declaring. I'd very much like him to stay for one more year.

Brazile being back is huge. It's not terribly unexpected, but it's still important for us.

I wish NSJ luck. I'm glad he came here and I hope he continues to be a great ambassador for Arkansas and the Hogs.
I'm not a scout or an NBA GM but I just don't see spending a lottery pick for him.
I'm not sure NSJ is the even the best guy from Jacksonville on his team. I'd bet on Devo in a 1on1 game between the two of them.

i think davis will declare to get some feedback. probably seeing if he can get a guaranteed 2nd round deal like jwill did.

staying another year isn't going to improve his draft stock. plus he'd be 24 when the 2024 nba season starts. kinda ancient to just be getting started.

In a way it makes sense. Devo is a great defender, and a streaky and sometimes wildly unpredictable offensive player. I bet he'd get some try outs based on his defense. Maybe he goes the Patrick Beverley route and ends up being a lockdown defender in the NBA after playing in Europe for a bit. Either way he likely makes a decent paycheck somewhere. Selfishly I'd love to have him back.

Nick Smith's ceiling to me is more like an Allen Iverson type guy. Granted that would be an amazing leap in ability.

30 medical staffs are going to put NSJ through a ringer of tests and exams. We will find out much more about the extent of the knee injury, whether or not it's lingering, etc. That kind of info always gets leaked at the pro level.

But I guess he's not ours to worry about and have drama over anymore. I personally wish him the best and hope he shows out. Former #1 recruit and high-level player in the NBA, the more "Arkansas" gets mentioned, the better for the program moving forward.

Uhhh AI was one of the top 5 athletes ever. More athletic than Ja and I hold Ja in high regard.

He posterized dudes and was 5'10. Dude had Brandon Dean hops and broke dudes ankles.

I would have everyone on the team (that wants to play pro ball) declare so they can get feedback. Are there any restrictions on who can get feedback? You can always take your name out of the draft.

of course, a lot of these guys are going to end up sitting on the their ass the vast majority of next year but they'll be getting paid no matter how many garbage minutes they play. Which is odd in that what these guys need more than anything at this stage is game minutes. Unless some do like J-Will and spend some time in the G-league. Biggest crap shoot is getting selected by a good franchise and not a shit show one that will break your career.

That's how I see it. He could certainly get better, continue improving as a decision maker but he at this point can do all of those things and then some in the G-league for a couple years. It remains to be seen if he will ever get meaningful NBA time but his defense is good enough in potential that he's certainly going to get a shot.

I do want to hit the portal hard on excellent ball handler/decision makers 3 point shot makers etc.

Getting Brazile back is huge news. Too early to get too hyped up on who's on this team next season but I think maybe we fall back to earth a bit on hype and guys don't enter the season with the big head.

It really depends on your definition of "athlete"...is it actual athleticism, or athleticism + basketball skill?

i.e. Russell Westbrook, in my opinion, is one of the greatest athletic players of all-time. It over-compensates for his average basketball skill. He's historically put up a great stat line, but I think he's a dipshit waste of cap space for the levels he draws for any NBA GM with actual aspirations for a 'ship to mess with.

I agree that both AI and Ja are up there. That AI led his coondog shit-laden Sixers squad to the 2001 Finals, much less won a game against that Lakers team, was a miracle. He took a lot of shit from a lot of fans/media over his "practice" comments and people assuming he didn't care. That motherfucker played his ass off.
