sanders has said if he goes to the nfl, it will be to coach his son(s). since dallas doesn't need a qb, and would have to trade half the team to draft his kid, that pretty much rules dieon out if he's being honest.

promoting zimmer would be the most jerry jones thing he can do.

Jimmy Johnson-best hire he made; won him back-to-back SB's but Jerry couldn't handle him getting all the credit, ran him off and they haven't won anything since
Barry Switzer-went to a NFCCG and won a SB with Jimmy's players, was literally a caretaker in the role. as soon as they hit adversity in '96, he cratered. fired a year later
Chan Gailey-a decent hire on paper, not good at drafting (passed on Moss), made playoffs both years he was coach but classic example of great coordinator, not HC material
Dave Campo-abysmal hire, went 5-11 three years in a row. lol
Bill Parcells-retread, rebuilt the franchise for the new millenium, but was clearly past his prime and never won a playoff game
Wade Phillips-see Chan Gailey. also a retread. great coordinator, not HC material. fired after 3.5 seasons
Jason Garrett-puppet, master of mediocrity. amazing he lasted as long as he did.
Mike McCarthy-a retread, had some success but couldn't get it done in postseason and lacked discipline

Expecting him to hire a college coach like Sark or a retread like Ron Rivera or Jon Gruden or Pete Carroll. Whoever it is, they will have to do it Jerry's way and that will lead them to the same results they've been getting for 30 years

No doubt.  I expect him to interview all the flashy candidates, then end up promoting Zimmer or hiring some other retread or yes man who will work for below market pay.

Jerry bought into the "Jimmies and Joes" bullshit line that Jimmy used to deflect attention from himself.  And it's true that you can't win without players...but you can't win with players if the coach doesn't command respect and can't have the team ready come January (see 2022).

 I could certainly see now more so than ever an opportunity for experienced college coaches that legit just don't want to deal with the bullshit try their hand at an NFL gig so I won't be surprised if it's someone like that.

Really doesn't necessarily fit the above but Troy Calhoun has a NFL background from years ago...I think he would be a fit for the Cowboys job. I just don't see Jerry pulling the trigger on Deion unless Deion really doesn't want to be a coach in college with his sons in the NFL.
