Quote from: flash23 on Dec 25, 2023, 07:24 AMI told my kids not to wake my wife and I up before 6:30. I put an analog clock in their room before bed so they'd know when 6:30 hits. My oldest (9) wakes me up at 5:37, holds the clock up and says "look, it's 6:30. Get up." He took the back off and set it ahead an hour. I did not reward immediately him for his ingenuity, but I compromised on 6.
Nice. I remember as a kid we'd be up, gifts unwrapped, eaten breakfast by 630.
I can't so much as drink a damn glass of water around a midget or a piece of antique furniture.

I remember my sister and I woke my parents up at 4:30 one Christmas and my dad just about strangled me. Never tried it again.

I think last year my kids woke us up around 4:45 or 5. They were losing their shit by the end of the day.

A few Christmas quotes because why not:

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."
 —-Norman Vincent Peale

"Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind."
 —-Mary Ellen Chase

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
 Their old, familiar carols play,
 And wild and sweet
 The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
 —-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone."
 —-Charles Schulz
I really don't care, Margaret.

Merry Christmas Woopig.

Some good memories on this day as a kid. Castle Grayskull. Atari. GI Joe 14F.

Never forget getting one of those gas powered Cox airplanes you controlled with a line one year. Dad was cussing that thing trying to get it started. After almost losing a finger, we finally got it going and then proceeded to fly it into the ground on the first run - destroying it into a million pieces. We laughed about it.

RIP Pops.

Wait, ole Henry wasn't through. I did not do him justice. Can't have that:

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
the Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!
 —-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I really don't care, Margaret.

Merry Christmas to one and all.  I hope you all get the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip, and everything else you want.

Quote from: Corn Pop on Dec 24, 2023, 05:56 PMMerry Christmas 'errbody. Anybody cooking anything? Mrs. Corn Pop is currently knee deep in preparing a batch of chicken vesuvio and I must say the kitchen smells heavenly.

I took my first crack at a prime rib.  I was nervous and I couldn't decide between doing it in the oven or on the Kamado Joe.  I ended up going wit the Joe because it was too nice out not to.  Wife kept the Christmas libations going and somehow it still turned out great.  She made mashed potatoes, green beans, and a pie and also bought all kinds of cookies and shit.  Way, way too much food for 2 people.  I made sure all 3 of the dogs got a few generous bites of prime rib.

Merry Christmas knuckleheads! We did eats and gifts yesterday and everything turned out great. We've moved our attention to grandkids. So no more of that early morning crap!

Shit, I'm an old dad with a 4yo boy and 3yo boy. I'm looking at a pile in the living room of toys to put together and I've already put together several.

Merry Christmas! Best one yet except for the dogs waking up at 330.
At the age now where all the kids are starting to transition out, awesome to have them all here and hanging out together.

3 filets and a ribeye going on the grill.  Baked potatoes and green beans.  Pre dinner appetizer is a couple of Ole Fashions.

Perfect ending to Christmas Day.

A little cooking down here. The plating could be better for magazine quality, but this gets the point across.

Herb crusted rack of lamb with mixed berry shallot wine sauce
Twice baked potatoes
Roasted asparagus
