Quote from: Rick B. on Jan 21, 2025, 11:46 AMI'm not going to lie...I'm too close to the team and Mike is a friend.  I want him here forever BUT I also want to win.  There are just a bunch of things that fans don't see while watching at home or looking at box scores.  And I'm not saying that to toot a horn or act like I'm some big insider or something.  When you go to every game and go to Mike's chalk talks before the game and know half the team, you see and hear stuff that other fans don't. Things aren't always what they seem.  Same goes for the baseball team but I digress.  There were injuries that I knew about the last 2-3 years that were never made public until long after the season was over and sometimes, not at all.  And yet these guys played through them.  And Dave's not going to bench someone who's given their heart and soul to the team if they're only playing at 80% of their max due to injuries.

If Mike has a plan to overcome the shit-show, I'm for giving him a bit more time.  He has taken a team to the final four, so he has credibility.  There are others up here that haven't won a thing and are getting a lot more leeway.
Never squat with your spurs on!

If and when Mike leaves, Urinecheck should go after Tennessee's former coach.  She was easy on the eyes and won a few games. Not as many as Tennessee apparently thought it should but more than Arkansas should expect.

We have the lowest NIL allotment in power 5 women's basketball by a lot and it ain't close.

No one with any qualifications in their right mind is taking this job if it opens.

Further proof how this ad has no clue when it comes to nil. None.
It is embarrassing.

Explaing to me how women's basketball NIL proves what you wrote.  Pretty please...

If this is indeed the case, and I'm sure it is given your knowledge of the program, we have this decision to make.

Do we want to spend more to compete in women's basketball, a sport where we were rarely more than an afterthought even before NIL?  Or would we be better served to spend that same amount of money on 1-2 SEC quality starters for the football team, which has also been mostly irrelevant but has probably 100 times the number of fans who care about it.

Given our apparent poverty relative to the rest of our peers, my choice is to allocate just enough of NIL and revenue sharing to the minor sports to keep in Title IX compliance.  Don't pay any buyouts to fire coaches who are already facing an uphill battle to compete.

We need some talented booster to come in and run a localized version of Elon's DOGE for our athletic department.  Cut the fat wherever possible, and redirect any saved funds to making football and basketball great again.  Once we get those on solid footing, then we can hopefully spend some of our increased revenue to compete in the sports that relatively few people watch or support.

There is a ton of fat that could be cut in the department. A ton.

T-Will's new raise is more money than women's basketball's nil budget.

We should not be DFL in the SEC though, I woukd be interested to see how the NIL is allocated within the department.

If the numbers I saw are right, we are 5 TIMES BELOW the SEC average.

NIL for this department under hunter has been a train wreck - how many directors has edge gone through? - they have no plan, no vision just give us money while every other school in the SEC leaves us in the dust.

Hunter spent the first two years of legalized NIL campaigning against it rather than accepting reality and coming up with a plan.  Of course we're behind everyone else.

Quote from: Rick B. on Jan 21, 2025, 11:27 AMSamara was a cancer in the locker room too.  Also not a team player.  The last 2 years, there was nothing but turmoil.  Mike did what he could do to tamp that down but it's a catch 22.  Bench your best players for being mean girls and not take coaching, then you lose the game.  Or you play the mean girls and prima donnas and give them what they want, maybe you win but you really LOSE in the long run. I can't even count the number of times 2 years ago that Chrissy Carr was WIDE OPEN on the wing for a 3 and Spencer would bring the ball up and look at Crissy and look away and pass to someone else.  It was pure jealousy and the cliques on the team didn't like Carr.

AND, the NIL for WBB at the U of A is a mere pittance of what places like LSU, TN, etc have.  Jersey was a center in body type but wanted to be a 3 point shooter. Mike tried to get her to play low. She tried but still kept that point guard mentality.  (Similar to Z on the men's team).  She got close to a 8x increase in pay transferring to LSU. And Kim has her playing more of a center's role.  But, she's only averaging 6 pts a game and 15 min a game but man, she's getting paid. So, because of this discrepancy in NIL, Mike has to go international to get players because they're not used to getting high 5 figure to 6 figure incomes. Same happened with Samara Spencer. She got a huge hike in salary to go to Tennessee. Saylor (Legs as y'all call her) left for two reasons:  1.  More money and 2. She was homesick. Everyone rags and rails on Mike and believe me, I'm nowhere near HAPPY about 8-12 and 1-4 in the SEC and getting blown out every game but what else can Mike do?  It is what it is in this day and age.  Mike may be on his last year. Only Hunter knows.  But Hunter also knows the situation that Mike is in.  And knows he's doing the best with the cards he's been dealt.  Ticket sales are up every year the last 5 years.  Season tix are up.  Attendance had increased every year til this year and we all know why.  For this program, Hunter may accept those things over winning conference titles.  If they continue on their current course and finish with 4 maybe 5 wins in the SEC, who knows what might happen?

Thing is, and this only goes for WBB, you get rid of Mike, who do you think will come in here with the NIL situation like it is for WBB?  The NIL is not much better for other women's sports either.

Okay...off my soapbox.  Carry on.

That's all logical and I admit I've been one of the most negatively vocal here, but more of my issue stems from the lack of success and adherence to a flawed style of play back when NIL was nothing more than an Ed O'Bannon retirement plan.

Especially compared to the guy we thought we were getting.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Legs put up 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists but Maryland lost to #12 Ohio State.  Just not a good night for Woopig's favorite players.

In other news the tournament might be loaded this year.

He took a team to the Final Four with a generational player in Kelsey Plum. She is the reason they made the Final Four.

He hasn't done shit without her.

Improvement today with only a 20 point loss on the road against a really good Kentucky team.

Maryland is still getting put back in its place against the best in the conference. Today was a 15-point smackdown by undefeated #1 UCLA and their gigantor 6'7" center, who made 14 out of 15 shots.  Legs led the Lady Terps with 18 points.

And they won by 20+!?  WTF!?

Guess Nabors will be here next year now.

Still can't understand how the women's team has won twice as many SEC games as the men.

WTF.
