I think part of the reason is that it was harder for those teams to recruit the portal while in Omaha. Even LSU's portal class didn't pan out.

I found the portal rankings from last year and it seem to bear that out.

LSU at 12, Hogs at 18, and that's it for the top 25.

Conversely, 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8-10 are all still playing.
