Tremendous hire for them. He was a Coastal lifer, so they must have opened the wallet for him.

This is also probably a preemptive move.  He probably saw where college baseball is headed in terms of power being consolidated into the money conferences (SEC and to a lesser extent ACC) and wanted to get ahead of being squeezed out.

Path to Omaha is *much* easier for an SEC team. You can finish under .500 in conference and make the tourney (OU, UK). Hell, OU will probably make it to Omaha. The bar is much higher in non power conferences.

Tim Corbin has only been to Omaha 5 times and he's won it twice.

Yet DVH has been to Omaha 10 times and only been to the finals once.

I don't know what that says about what they're doing in Omaha in comparison to DVH, but it says something.
