Just have to look at Nate Thompson.

It's frustrating to watch an elite pitching and defense paired with an offense that's performing in the bottom quarter of the league. It's an established pattern now.

But he's not going anywhere. Dave blames recruiting

And who's the recruiting coordinator?

Arkansas will be fine if DVH retires tomorrow. Lots of coaches would love to come here. You can thank DVH for that but let's stop acting like no one else could win here. That's just ridiculous.

Get rid of? Absolutely not. Asked to move on and retire a HOF Hog Coach. Absolutely.  Which also coincides with Tony never coaching here. He doesn't respect DVH as a player. DVH knows this, and the world knows this.

We'll have DVH for at least another year. And guess what? Next year will look the same.

My hope is that it ends on good terms. We desperately need that.

What is the difference between "asked to move on" and get rid of?
Good thing the Rangers had Bochy as their manager last year when they won the world series. An old guy would've made them lose.

DrMongoose

Why would a coach who is in the cws much less the finals leave that job to come here? Seriously, if can get to Omaha where you are why leave, it is a parallel move right?

Parallel move is stretching it.

No one is leaving Tennessee or LSU or even Aggy to come coach Arkansas.

Fact is DVH has been embarrassed the last 2 postseasons on his home field, last year by TCU and this season by fucking SEMIO.

The DVH leg humping is something I'll probably never wrap my head around. If you don't understand the difference between giving the guy a family box forever vs firing him, then I can't help you.

BleedinRed

Only an Arkansas fan would think it perfectly acceptable to "ask" a coach to fire himself after that coach has had one of the best teams of any in the SEC over the last 5 years.

Yeah because that's exactly what I said. /eyeroll

Then what are you saying? Are you not saying to "ask" DVH to leave gracefully? I guess the rest of don't see the difference.

Second this.  I'd like clarification.

As long as we ask nicely. I think that's the trick.

The only advantage Tennessee has over Arkansas right now, and it's marginal at best contrary to what some say, is in the head coaching position.

Anyone who seriously implies Tennessee or A&M to Arkansas is even the tiniest step down is too stupid to function and should probably move to Canada to take advantage of their euthanasia program.

I was clear. He should have been asked to retire a few years ago, and given a lifetime family box at Baum.
I never said fire him, but the DVH leg humpers start seeing red at any criticism of your boy.

Book my trip to Montreal!

There's no way Schloss or Tony V would leave their current positions to coach Arkansas.

That is a lot different than saying Arkansas is a step down for them.  If you truly believe that and aren't just being overly emotional for effect, you probably should book that flight as your retardation is probably terminal anyway.

I'm sincerely trying to wrap my head around this.

When exactly should he have been encouraged to retire?

After 2021, when we were the best team in America all year, had the Golden Spikes winner, and lost a close game three in our super?

Or after 2022, when we made it to Omaha the hard way and were a pitchers duel close loss away from the championship round?

Maybe last year after an SEC title when we got waxed in the home regional? If you're going to do it maybe that was the time,  but shouldn't every coach with that resume get a mulligan once in a while?

Keep in mind that throughout that time we have accumulated the best recruiting classes in program history (at least by ranking).

I think you're a little bit of a prisoner of the moment here.  It sucks balls to lose a home regional, even more so when you do it to shitty teams by failing to hit crap pitching.  And maybe we would have been a little better off it Dave had hung it up and we had replaced him with Vitello.  But something else to consider is that had we encouraged DVH to leave before he was ready there's a better than average chance that Vitello and many others would have told us to stick that job up our asses due to the lack of respect we showed.

In other news, Charlie Condom (Condon) of Georgia is the Golden Spikes winner.

Damn I forgot that was on. I didn't think Hagen would win it.

Condon had an insane season.
