I always thought it was interesting that there's a lot of German culture in Texas. Wurst and oompah music mixed with Mexican, and Shiner Bock.

German immigrants settled in south central Texas many years ago.  It is real.  Also, there is a presence of Slovaks which overlap with the Germans.  One of my former partners, now deceased, still had family members in Czechoslovakia.  He was from East Bernard, Texas, down by Houston. His family descended from immigrants who traveled to this country and headed west.  Some settled in Slovak, Arkansas.  Others in the same group went on to Texas.  Some of the ones in Texas maintained a relationship with the Arkansans.
