I figure Scottie probably screwed up somewhere along the line there, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and that both parties will want this to go away quickly and quietly after the national media spotlight is gone.

Daily Mail reporting that the charges will be dropped tomorrow at the arraignment. 

Now imagine instead of a wealthy golfer that not one single reasonable person in the world believes tried to run over a cop on his way to the course, that it was you or some other a average schmo.  You'd be out thousands and probably eventually have to plead to one of those misdemeanors to avoid a jury trial on a felony and spending thousands more.

It a strange phenomenon for me when I see it here..having only joined the WP in 2007. Many of the same guys who gave me the business as a newb have all but disappeared citing "group think," which was responsible for the hostile culture they created.

It really has been like watching the bullies turn into giant pussies as they aged. It's a shame, but oh well. Life goes on.

They're just a bunch of butt hurt pussies because the board went from being quite liberal to conservative/MAGA.  That's the heart of it.  They could dish out the snark but when it got shoved back in their faces with a helping of MAGA, they got triggered and ran off to circle jerk each other on a new board.

The negativity here is off the charts.  It's not enjoyable to dialogue or listen to the world is going to hell in a handbasket.  It isn't.  Do you not notice that a lot of the posters who weren't political aren't coming around either?  You guys make everything political because that's what Trump weirdness has done to you.  You guys made that bridge getting hit by a boat political. You made a worldwide pandemic political. 
 
I can name loads of non political posters that don't post here anymore but you guys let this weird couple of guys who obsess over me (also very weird) draw your ire to me.  So be it.

I appreciate the fact that you are one of the few people on here that keeps a somewhat consistent path politically based off your values.  You and, ironically, One Quarter, who was the original Trump guy. Policy should be discussed.  Politics is just bloodsport and can certainly be fun to discuss if people understood that it's just politics and phony.

The "check your cup" type posts (which always seemed like more hazing than mean spirited at the time) were traded for posts that looked more like personal attacks.

One thing that is outright surprising (largely because I always saw the mean avg of the board as above average in the critical thinking department) is when I see posters take what amounts to little more than rumors, and they add a whole mess of fabricated context in order to leap to their unsubstantiated conclusions.

I remember my first involvement on this board was tangling with that rug guy and the guy who made up shit all of the time... maybe his handle was "truth".  There was no hazing for me because I was straight up honest about who I was.  Both of those guys messaged me privately later and turned out they were kind of normal but living way too much of their lives through internet personas.   That's never stopped here, it's just different internet personas now.
