I've got 3 racks of ribs smoking and we'll have the traditional sides (potato salad, beans, etc). We get this day because so many gave their all. It is really somber. I'll drink a cold few for them and thank them.

Quote from: Corn Pop on May 26, 2024, 08:02 PMI wonder if that bothers any of our lefty brethren here? If it does, it would be refreshing to hear them say so. I've heard them call us racists and kooks and every phone in the book, but I've never heard them say that this undeniable fact bothers them in the least.
I am not a "lefty" but instead a normal, patriotic American.

We have months for librarians and months to celebrate dogs.  You are playing in to the world that seeks to trigger you because much of the political world has figured out that men are among the most easily triggered and emotional beings on this planet if you play in to their paranoia of having their long held and complete authority challenged or pushed in any way possible.

I could say a lot but I'm not going to because I don't want to start a fight on a board that has veered to the extreme.  I'm simply speaking to the question you asked.  Peace to you.

As a normal, patriotic American do you approve of the military's newfound emphasis on DEI and wokeness?

Do you believe people can change their gender?

You replied to my post, but you neglected to answer the question I posed. Are you bothered by the amount of public attention and positive press given to transgenderism?

Do you think it's a good thing for America that we extended our celebration of homosexuality from one day per year to one month per year?

I am not triggered. I simply have my eyes open.

Peace to you as well.

I really don't care, Margaret.

Do you believe people can change their gender? No

You replied to my post, but you neglected to answer the question I posed. Are you bothered by the amount of public attention and positive press given to transgenderism? I hardly see any attention or press about transgenderism other than what I read on WooPig. Maybe I should get out more or spread my reading out more.

Do you think it's a good thing for America that we extended our celebration of homosexuality from one day per year to one month per year? I didn't extend my celebration. If others did, good for them. They can celebrate whatever they like.

I am not triggered. I simply have my eyes open.

Peace to you as well.

Wasn't addressed to me, but my answers are above.

Peace to all.

C'mon Cerdo...you even said on the old board that "the Republican party is gonna die soon." That was back in the last year or so of Obama's admin., and I remember it well.  All due respect, but unless somethings changed, you're clearly a Democrat in your political leanings it seems.  There's nothing wrong with that of course, but I can see how you might be pissed. This was your Board before mine, and it was certainly Steve's baby...and then that Orange Asshole showed up and shit got weird.

Anyway, to say that Woopig has now "veered into the extreme," when you've been around here for 20-ish years, is in my opinion either disingenuous, or forgetful. THIS is the message board that was turning people's utilities off for being a trash talking fan of any-weeks opponent, who dared venture into our caldron of hate and discontent. We ruled the bully pulpit of the internet, and it was known. You dont come 'round Woopig with a dumb fucking take, or you're gonna get your ass handed to you. And You, ME, Steve, MDEM...we all slapped our knees in laughter at the poor sap who didnt believe and tested the powers of Woopig. That was the way it was. Until Trump was elected. Once that happened, Woopig went through a change in its political leaning. The majority shifted.

Maybe that's what you, Steve, and Muzzy didnt/dont like. But Woopig has always been on the edge of whatever; bullying, porn, racism, and men generally being uncouth...as men are apt to do. So what changed other than the political leanings here? Is it a Woopig issue, or a You issue?

Whyte Boar said it best..some of the "old guard," and I put you Cerdo in with them, was happy with the status quo for 8 years of Obama, but when Trump got elected and half of us rejoiced, it was the beginning of the end for them (and You) and the old board. Steve didnt hate the P&R board until Trump was elected and many of us showed support for him. There were several others who disappeared with him when the majority shifted. You're one of the last left. Muzzy went absolutely nuts trying to maintain the old status quo, and it marked the only time I've ever seen a mod go crazy on here. Dude was banishing people to Complete Crapola for days for pushing back against the WP status quo and speaking out in support of Trump. I think you were on a hiatus during that time, but it was absolutely nuts around here for a while until OQ reigned shit in. We havent seen any of Muzzy since then, which says alot for you. Way to stick around when it gets thick. Woopig needs an alternate voice.

I'll leave you with this...Keep posting. F the haters. You're a VERY smart man, with more life experiences than most of us dumb rednecks...and while Woopig might not exactly align with you now, history shows things will change.

Apologies to the thread for the hijack.

Cerdo sounds like some sort of DEI college professor throwing out woke buzz phrases.  "Having their complete authority challenged" or ""Veered to the extreme".

You guys need to get back into the cages he is comfortable seeing you in.  Remember your decorum keep things civil and subservient to his vision of how you should comport yourselves.

I feel I need to add a little to this as someone who knows Cerdo a little in the offline world.

If you (the group, not you specifically TC)  think Cerdo is some weirdo leftist, you've never spent any time with him.

The first time I ever met him (well, second actually) he and I sat at a Hog baseball midweek game in seats given to us by Josh Melton (who no showed on us).  We sat and talked non stop to the point where we looked up and were like "whoa, it's the eighth inning already."  And we talked about a lot of the topics of the day, including politics.  We were in agreement to some degree. or at least found some common ground, on nearly everything we discussed.  From my perspective he just doesn't fall into the tribal aspect of politics, and calls out inconsistency when he sees it.   For the record I don't always agree with his perception of groupthink, but that doesn't necessarily make him wrong.  He's probably more of a true libertarian than a lot of us here who think we are, like me until I get into a line of traffic doing 55 mph on I-40 and want to start imprisoning truckers for being in the left lane and executing texting drivers.

But as for vouching for his character, I'm 100% in on that. Cerdo is good people.  We've done business together and come out on the other side of it unscathed and I think both would say better for it. If you haven't shared a beer or a meal with him at some point you should.  The only thing I'd ever really question him on judgment wise is some of his past selections in women...

I know a guy who knows James Carville.  He says that Carville is a hell of a guy, funny, generous, and he maybe doesn't believe a lot of what he is spouting.  Great.  It doesn't change a damned thing.

The problem is not that people are too serious about politics, it's that politics are too serious today.  See, it doesn't matter if James Carville would give me the shirt off of his back, he still is advocating for policies that would flood my country with illegals, see my kids taxed to oblivion, and so on and so forth.  And no, I'm not the dick for getting mad about it.

It's sort of the same with Cerdo.  He lost the right to expect people to be civil in their discussions about politics when politics became a matter of life and death.

Oh well, rant over.

Whose life and whose death? I'm not trying to be snarky, but people get triggered over politics more and more now. They're watching the 24 hr news machine that makes its bottom line on keeping emotional investment high through anger, fear, or both. And if it's not that, it's the detached social media monolith driving the narrative.

Sure, people are probably dying indirectly (and even directly) from policy choices. But when has that ever not been the case? From the lady driven to drugs and living on the street because she got kicked off welfare, to the guy making out with his s&w because he couldn't keep up with unregulated mortgage hikes. No government has never made a paradise for their people, but to think that it's somehow astronomically worse or that the stakes are more severe now is probably not much different than the crazy old guy on the street corner shouting, "The End Is Nigh!!!"

Cerdo is a little like the media.  He can't just comment straight up.  The board has become too "extreme".  People are just mad because their expectation of "complete control" has been "challenged" and so on and so forth.  I prefer my sanctimony a bit less on the passive aggressive side.

40 million illegal aliens in this country right now and about ten million in the last three years.  $34 trillion dollars in debt that could see us in Weimar territory.  Anyone who doesn't believe things are more serious than they've been in this country in a long damned time is a fool.

The P&R section is 97% politics.  Politics is bloodsport and bullshit.  Biden or Trump does ANYTHING and the outrage or devotion is basically predictable because "politics".  Policy may have some life or death implications, but I don't see much talk about policy at all anymore because everyone is talking politics.

To answer the other poster's question about wokeness and DEI in the military and sex changes - I really don't think it's an issue worth devoting much debate too.  If an adult wants to cut their penis off and be a woman and do a sex change, I mean, whatever.  I know and deal with a thousand people a week and can think of one customer I had years ago that seemed to be a man dressed up as a woman and my daughter recounts to me 2 people she grew up with that seem to be wandering around the sexual spectrum.  This is what you want me to worry about?  Or vote to?

I mean, if I was the political party that claimed to care about fiscal responsibility that has spent money like a drunken sailor since 2000 and had its most recent president run up all time debt in one term with huge inflationary practices that are directly contributing to the problems we are having today, I'd probably start working people up over social causes too.  The party of "individual rights" has cleaved MORE citizens of their individual rights over the last 2 decades than any other group.  It's always easy to rile up emotion.  We've had partisan kneejerk around here forever - left and right, but now there is a cult of personality and I'm not really down with that.

My choices in women have been questionable but there is a lot of truth to those stereotypes about crazy.
