I was pretty sure Stovall would strike out after they called interference on him.  Someone should have come in and talked to him for a second to let him get his composure.

Was just about to post this.

He's been quietly dogshit for the last few weeks.

Someone make sense of this.

Too many times we don't piss a drop at the plate until we have 2 outs.

Then we seem to get traffic on the basepaths, only for someone to come up and strike out or hit a routine pop up with 2 on.

You might want to review some numbers on him.

Going back to the Kentucky series, he's 19-59 with a few 2 or 3 hit games. I went through it quickly without counting XBH or other things but that's just below his season average.

Yes he was swinging for the fence on the last two at bats but canine feces doesn't really come to mind.

Great point I had missed, and it's part and parcel of my complaints about DVH..and other old ball coaches I've been around in this game.

At some point they stop "coaching" and become administrators of sorts. That works in the show, but at other levels, even college ball, kids need to be coached up.

I saw the same thing with Billy Peele. Yes, guys like him and DVH have "forgotten more baseball than I know," but thats the problem. They've forgotten.

Teach kids to get Charlie Hustle with 2 strikes and choke up and crowd the plate. If a pitcher is throwing first pitch strikes, I better not see a motherfucker one take a first strike. DVH seems to passively coach, and that's great in a 30 game regular season, but come tournament time it's time to tighten up and coach up every opportunity.

That's exactly what Hughes did tonight in their 6 run inning and it made DVH look silly.

HOGSRUNWILD

Our plate approach and more importantly, situational awareness are dogshit.  A lot of that has to go on the coaching.

So now we have to win three games over the next two days.  Seems very likely.

Hizog

Our bats are gonna have to get out to early leads to take some pressure off the bullpen. Which is about as likely as Thompson getting fired.

SEMO's coach (who played for DVH at Nebraska) made a comment that made me raise an eyebrow.

Said he played on DVH's first Nebraska team, and DVH rode his ass like a rented mule. He said "back then he was a much more demonstrative coach."

I was at UA in the mid 2000s and had a fraternity brother who walked on to the baseball team and talked at length about how much of a hardass DVH was.

Andrew Benintendi told a story in an interview one time about how he hit a 9th inning solo homer against LSU when we were getting blown out and he admired it before a slow trot. In the postgame huddle DVH called him out and basically said "you're gonna hit a homer in a blowout and look at it? Why don't you hit one when it actually matters in a game for once?" Benny said that changed his approach as a player and we ultimately made Omaha that year.

Granted, that type of coaching is harder to do in the portal era, but he definitely doesn't seem to light a fire in asses like he used to.

Granted.

I'm melting but for other reasons. I said something different before, but if White's ball had gone just a few more feet, we likely would've gone to Gaeckle and their last home run never happens.  We would've have been able to ride that momentum to scratch out one more.

Bullshit.  The players know the situation.  Most are 22 years old or older.  We just don't have many good hitters.  And as much as I hate to say this, that is on  DVH.
Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

I've coached my kids little league team, and currently the All-Star team, so I feel like I can speak on this as an almost expert.... O0

When you as a coach go back and look at a stat line like 13 hits, 13 LOB, and 6 runs..if you dont question every time you didnt call for a steal, bunt, or threatening lives for not swinging at first pitch strikes, then somethings wrong.

A stat line like that and losing by 1, as a coach I'm falling on my sword before the entire team. It's inexcusable.

Another good season without a title. This team doesn't have the arms or bats left to make it out of the regional. Losing the game that Smith started was the one thing that could not happen.

The 23-24 school year will go down as one of the most disappointing from an athletic standpoint . Neither football, basketball, nor baseball  lived up to the hype. Hopefully, next year is different.

Feral

Not to amplify the melt, but it's exceptionally depressing that one of the three of A&M, Kentucky, and Tennessee will likely win the CWS this year.

Hizog

Wood getting the start vs Semo tomorrow.

Sus-Scrofa

I think we win easy in both games today
