Baseball, unlike other sports, is particularly cruel in that it takes two loses to end the season.  A deep painful wound before the merciful shot to the head.

We seem to be immune to getting the leadoff man aboard, yet we allow opponents to do it constantly. 

It's incredible that we won as many games as we did this year with that dynamic as prevalent as it was.

As fans, we see our own players hit so infrequently that when other teams hit an average amount, it impresses the shit out of us.  That's how fucking awful our batting has been under Thompson.  We make average look awesome.
