Thin Red Swine

Quote from: Feral on Jun 02, 2024, 05:23 PMI mean, we worshipped Muss until the moment he left for USC and he was human napalm.

True, and there were times his volatility was costly.

My main point is that it's hard to ever imagine welcoming him with open arms.

Season just ended.  Even if he had every intention of firing him, Dave isn't going to say that right after the final game.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

Maybe Nate finds a job as the head coach at the Texas School of Cosmetology and we bring in a new hitting coach.  😎

Saw on Twitter that the 7 years with Thompson as hitting coach, we are hitting .176 in the postseason. Damn.

I wonder if DVH is considering retiring.  A friend of mine knows him pretty well and talked to him for a while at the SEC Tournament last week. He said DVH seemed down then. But he loves his grandkids (and said he wants lots more), and made some comments about not being able to spend time with them.

Just a thought.  Nothing concrete at all

He was asked earlier by Hutch the presser about any "decisions" to be made and sidestepped the question and talked about roster turnover. Good on Hutch for asking it again and making it specifically about Nate.

Interestingly, DVH said they expect to lose White and Diggs as well as the entire rotation.

I'm actually surprised at how DVH seemed to throw quite a few players under the bus. He mentioned something about the rotation and Hagen carrying them and "one guy's arm's always hurt, the other got wild." I was a bit surprised at the barbs about Tygart, as well as his comment about needing better players in general.

He didn't hang NT out to dry, but he sure did call out the personnel.

To hell in a handbasket once Pride Month starts. You'd think we were the basketball team.

Not crazy about the comments about the players honestly. Our coaches recruited them. Don't blame the players now.

Agree but at some point coaches coach and players play.
I'm certain Diggs wasn't coached to watch two right down the middle and then try to hit a ball on his shoelaces.
Aloy sure as hell wasn't coached to swing at a ball two feet over his head.
Oak Grove in the house.

I caught the tail end of the postgame show on the radio.  Phil and Bubba were talking about all the players that were leaving.  We will apparently have basically a brand new team next year.  So DVH has a lot of work to do in the next few months.

I hope he stays but he just looks kinda tired lately. And that's going to be a big rebuild.

Feels like we'll probably take a pretty significant step back next year unless we sign a baller portal class.

We return a lot of arms, but the entire lineup outside of Aloy is a question mark. Helfrick and Souza will be back, but both could benefit significantly from summer ball.

Absolutely agree with you on that. The comment that I didn't like was something to the effect of we don't have good athletes and we need to get some guys who are better athletes.

While that statement is true, I don't like the implication. It kind of absolves the coaches of any responsibility. If these guys aren't good enough athletes, then don't recruit them. Don't get to this point and then blame them.

This may be misinterpreted but I truly mean just about that comment, very Nuttish.

It's a bitter moment for all of us, so maybe I will regret even saying that in hindsight.

DVH is either Mark Richt or Tom Osborne. He's earned two or three more years to prove which. Gotta stick with him.
I really don't care, Margaret.

I'm no Nostradamus either but this is what I see happening. This will not buff out.

It buffed out last year, and this will buff out by the time next season gets here. Let's see who we end up with. Hopefully, some guys that can hit and field. You know, unlike this year.
Well, shit...
