Quote from: Thin Red Swine on May 30, 2024, 09:23 PMYou expect every single inning to be quality? Something that's never happened in the history of the game at any level?

Whut. To win hardware in a three game set against a top tier opponent you better be able to find the innings. I don't see it, especially with a razor thin margin for error with weak bats.

Want to bet on who comes out of the Fayetteville regional? I'll take Arkansas and give you the field. Step up big guy.

He doesn't have the balance sheet for such a bet.

Watched DVH's press conference yesterday, and he was asked specifically about Diggs batting leadoff.

He basically said what we've all been saying all year, that Diggs takes too many pitches (especially early in counts) and finds himself in disadvantage counts too often. He even said pointedly that he wanted Diggs to swing the bat earlier in ABs because that's when they're pitching him right down the chute.

He confirmed he had been batting him leadoff down the stretch to get him more AB's in an effort to get him going. He said something to the effect of "I was playing for the future, which is now" —  judging by that comment, I highly doubt Diggs bats higher than 6th or 7th today (otherwise DVH is truly insanely stubborn).

I didn't watch the full press conference, but I'd also be curious what his plans for the OF are and whether we see Wilmsmeyer in CF or if he rolls with some combo of Jones/Lovich/Edmunson in LF (and thus Holt in CF). Jones has power but he was exceptionally bad in SEC play (.095 on the season), strikes out way too much, and rarely ever walks.

To be fair, his major assets are illiquid.

Are we even going to get today's game in? The weather looks shitty around 2:00.
Well, shit...

It already rained this morning.  The sun is behind these clouds.

The Oaklawn Sports betting app has us as the betting favorite at +400.  Somehow I don't imagine that is true on the other apps.  What are they showing?
Apparently retarded member of the "fucking old people" crowd as defined by Swahili Steve.

The Tennessee Vols have the shortest odds to win it all at +550 (bet $100 to win $550), according to BetMGM as of 12:15 p.m. CT on Monday, May 27.

No. 3 overall seed Texas A&M has the second shortest odds at +600 (bet $100 to win $600). The Aggies are followed by the No. 5-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks (+700), unseeded and defending national champion LSU (+900), and the No. 2-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (+1000).

The ACC has the next two shortest odds via No. 6 overall seed Clemson (+1300) and unseeded Wake Forest (+1300). Wake Forest opened the 2024 season as the No. 1-ranked team, according to D1Baseball.

North Carolina received the No. 4 overall seed from the NCAA, but the Tar Heels have the eighth shortest betting odds to win it all. UNC is +1600 (bet $100 to win $1,600), and No. 15 seed Oregon State is also +1600. Oregon State's 2018 national title is the most recent CWS title from outside the SEC.

The Illinois Fighting Illini come in at +15000 to win the CWS. Illinois shares the same odds as Indiana, San Diego, and James Madison. They are tied for the 38th shortest odds. Illinois was sent to the Lexington Kentucky Regional, and it opens against Indiana State, which is +6600 and the 27th shortest odds.

One Quarter

Saracen has it thus:

Texas A&M +475
Tennessee +600
Arkansas +800

If we get the game in, I will handle PBP unless someone else wants to take it.
Well, shit...
