Regardless, 99% of the time that punt goes into the endzone.  You gain at best a 20 yard difference?  Fucking loser mentality.

well you know that 1% time we downed the punt inside the 5 shows we could do it again in spite of the 99% that we won't he's willing to gamble on instead of the 45-50% chance of gaining the first down by going for it.
that is insanity that even Pelphrey would object to.

We lost...

Again...

So how does that factor into the math?

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Oct 02, 2024, 12:02 PMI don't know if that's a terrible decision on its face, but it was the wrong decision.  Some coaches have a knack for making the right decision even if it appears to be risky or ill advised, Sam's decisions always turn out to be wrong.

If you remember we pinned them on less than the one yard line with a ridiculously good punt.  But one play and a penalty later, they are on the fifteen or twenty yard line.

I remember being ok with the punt decision since it was 4th and 8.  I just wish the head coach had told his OC before that drive to be ready for a 4th and 5 or less play if we crossed midfield... or something.

I'd prefer Sam not be involved in any punt or go for it decisions.

Same.  Given how offensive our offense was, I didn't blame him for punting there at all.

When you do noting well. There's really not much we can actually depend on as "go-to" plays from one game to the next. I think it's extremely difficult to go for it on 4th and 8 with a defense that had played reasonably well most of the game apart from the last drive where we put in backups on the defensive line as part of a point shaving effort.

No, this just provides more evidence that Sam is a proven habitual loser, incapable of doing anything remotely associated with winning football.  He just lucked into getting paid well to fail.

Well sure, with the hindsight of another month. Back when I posted that, we had just looked good in a losing effort. I was trying to find some optimism. But now all life seems to have been sucked out...again.

You could see the progression and development of the offense through the 2008 season.

After a rocky first half of the season where we almost lost to both Western Illinois and ULM and getting the shit kicked out of us by Bama, Texas, and Florida, we turned a corner mid-season.

We beat a ranked Auburn team, lost to Kentucky and Ole Miss by a combined total of 4 points, beat a ranked Tulsa team, lost one score games against both South Carolina and State, and then beat LSU.
