Quote from: rzrbkfan69 on Oct 22, 2024, 12:06 PMDJ was completely wrong on the targeting call, saying he thought it was clean. Completely ignoring the fact that a) the defender launched himself and b) made forcible contact to the facemask with his helmet.

The fact that targeting call was reversed, is completely inexcusable. Fuckery afoot as many have already pointed out.

Meh...I mostly agree with him on that call.  Would we have gotten it?  Probably not.  But that doesn't mean it wasn't more or less correct to overturn it.

Switch the jersey's and would the call been reversed? We all know the answer.
I need help and I know it.

Yep.

Would we have gotten what? The call was made on the field and replay confirmed it, by the written aspect of the rule. Checked all the boxes. It was clearly targeting and it 100% should have been upheld. Go back and watch Broden's head and neck on that hit.

Meh...I don't really agree.  So there you go.

Targeting or not, we still lose the game so what is the point of arguing the call?

Score a TD there and we are down two points at half and getting the ball first.

Maybe if we weren't digging out of such a hole we wouldn't have abandoned the run game which was working in the rare instances where we tried it AND held onto the ball.  Which means maybe we keep their offense off the field a little longer and have a chance to make a play at the end to win versus quitting at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The targeting followed by an equally bad no call for PI on the next play essentially ended our chances of ever getting back in the game and killed our spirit.

Yes quantum causation is a real thing. Not scoring there and a ant hill in Africa causes a damn to break in China killing thousands, god kills a kitten etc.

We'll never know what could have happened if we score there. Likely we would have been down two at half. Maybe that gives us enough juice to come out and put up a good fight in the 2nd. Maybe it's enough to win. We were out classed in that game so ultimately I feel like we weren't going to win but we don't know that. One thing is for sure...we didn't play anywhere near over our heads like we've shown in other games. We played like a team that knew they weren't good enough to win.

It was like the staff (both sides of the ball) game planned as if we were far outclassed.  We were conceding the 5-8 yard out to keep from getting beat deep from the first snap.  And we came out throwing far more than we probably should have as if we either couldn't run or knew we were going to have to score a ton to stay with them.

Was just reading some article about the move of Harris to RT and Blackstock to LG. Basically saying they had to get more athletic at tackle. Well gee fuckin wiz. We have a head coach that's specialty is OL for fucks sake. I knew that eleventy weeks ago.

Then we are protecting red shirts with 5 games to go in the season...if guy (Kutas) is healthy why not bring him out and put him on the shelf for a less important game like La Tech. That's like managing the roster for the next coach. If we make a bowl game does Kutas not count in the bowl game participating I think maybe they changed that to where you can still protect your shirt.

Braxton has a lower leg injury "lets just say"....what the fuck does that mean? He's been out most of the season why not just say what the fuck is wrong with him if you have little or no intention of playing him.

Clark gets fucking blasted at corner and the dumbass coach is like "he's earned the right to start"....loves that helmet.

Some other guy named Mitchell I've never heard of got to play at safety against LSU, transfer from Florida. Doing good things. Yada. Presumed injured but mums the word.

Really these are the comments of a coach that knows he's not going anywhere and thinks he's getting a lot of these guys back next season to mount a awesome run of maybe 9 wins.

This.  And maybe we WERE outclassed.  But I'd like to know for sure before we just give it to them.  Maybe if we'd hit them in the mouth from the jump like we did Tenner it may have ended up differently.  Who knows.

If you are going in under the assumption that you can't stop the other team and can only slow them down, why wouldn't you take the ball first instead of deferring when you won the toss?

Can't argue with that...
