Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Oct 21, 2024, 10:14 AMYeah, let's keep him another year and let the program continue to slide over $4 million dollars.

Our program, admin, and boosters love to step over a dollar to pick up a dime, so we will absolutely do this.

Well, deserving has nothing to dk with it.  It is what it is.  He should have been fired after last year.  How he got away from the responsibility of making a bad hire in Enos is mind blowing.

Ray Zorback

It goes back to Youracheck giving him a contract with a big buyout. WHY!!! nobody was going to come after him.
irritatingly incompetent & infuriatingly unhelpful

I'm at the point of apathy.  Really have been all year, although the near misses vs Okie Aggy and Texas Aggy combined with the Tennessee win reeled my back in a bit.  It really hit home dealing with all the bullshit of getting to/from the game, dealing with the crowds, and of course the expense to watch such a shitty product.
The crowds, traffic, long drive to and from there to watch us lose, and expense. I gave up a few years ago. Now, I watch the good teams on TV and may switch to ours to check to see how bad we are losing before changing back to a good game. I don't know why the answer is but we sure don't have it.
Well, shit...

We'll see where we are after we blow the game at MSU this weekend.  It's an early game and they are an improving team who will be looking at us as w chance to win a game and show how much they are improving.

I'm going to call it now, we either win fairly easily or we lose by two or more touchdowns.  If we have a couple or three turnovers as usual, they are going to be fired up and jump all over us.

Because he's a performative jackass who knows nothing about being AD for a major college program.

The coach he was negotiating with quite literally said publicly "I'm not going anywhere" yet he still got played for a lifetime contract.

What has Yurachek done? Hire Muss? Stay out of DVH's way? Cal was all Tyson, and even that feels analogous to A&M hiring Jimbo. He got pantsed by Sexton and Kiffin, struck out with everyone, and hired an OL coach.

and you're not going to get many arguments about that.

my comments were to those saying he needs to be canned today. it's stupid and the money matters because it's not going to happen unless a big dick or two are willing to pay up and there's no indication that's a possibility as of today. looks like the house case is going to reach a settlement and $22 million to the players, $10-12 to pittman (if fired today), plus the cost of the next guy, means money matters.

This is also the point in the season where Pittman usually loses the locker room and the team starts phoning it in.

Happened in 2022 and 2023, so we're right on schedule for it this year.

And the difference between doing it now and next year is about $4 million.  So keeping him and letting the program continue to slide over $4 million IS exactly what you were saying.

Yeah, and I think MSU is primed for a breakout game where the new offense clicks and they score a shitload of points.

I've got a video on my phone sent to me by a recruit's mama on Saturday.  It's of Pittman talking to the recruits and their parents and families before the game.  I'm not going to post it because it would be obvious who took it.  But, wow, all I could think of was how embarrassing it was for Arkansas.  No energy, no fire, it was just like his interviews.  There wasn't one damned reason I could see for a recruit to want to play for that guy.  It was terrible.  Some of the parents looked like they were about to dose off.

jesus, not it's not. he's 4-3, you don't fire the guy at this point and let him collect that kind of money. or you can just write the check ok?

Quote from: DirkPiggler on Oct 21, 2024, 09:48 AMI'm at the point where I almost want to just punt the football program.  Keep Sam until his contract runs out, and replace him with someone else who will work cheap.  Send the NIL to basketball and baseball, and funnel any extra windfalls from the media rights deal to those sports for facility improvements and the like.  Spend the money to be elite in the sports where we are willing and able to compete for championships, and ignore the one where we either can't or won't do what is needed to succeed.

100%. I've had the same mindset for quite some time. Put all the resources into the coaches/teams that have the ability to be elite.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Unless he loses out, he won't get to a point this year to where his buyout is lowered.  I believe even if he loses out, it will just be even.  So, yes, keeping him another year over $4 million is exactly what you are arguing.

If he loses out the buyout is reduced.   Even one win keeps it at the same rate.

The only way I'd advocate an in-season firing is before the Missouri game if we lose the next four.  At that point he'd probably gone anyway.  Don't give him a chance to win one more for the extra $4MM.

Firing him midseason doesn't benefit us.  It's not like we are going to hire a sitting HC or coordinator before December.

I think actually it does, with the way NIL and all that works and the transfer portal.  You need to have someone hired and hitting the ground running immediately after the season.  Not that we will, but the days of waiting around to the end are going to be over for programs that know they want to make a change.

Unless you hire someone who isn't already employed you can't pull that off.

Any back channel negotiation with currently employed candidates can be done through agents before Pittman is fired.

I'd be fine with spending the extra money if there was a clear benefit.

His pregame speeches are terrible, and he's been using the same ones for years.

Home games - "they filled this stadium up because they believe in the team, believe you're gonna win"

Away games - "3 hours, play for the name on the front of the jersey and the name on the back."

Every. Single. Year.

So he needs to add a firebrand Baptist or Pentecostal preacher to the staff?
