That play is more or less a fullback wheel route

Did he say someone has a better "pull out game" than tyreek hill? 😀

Quote from: HOGSRUNWILD on Sep 21, 2025, 07:27 PMI mean, you do realize the background some of these kids come from...to assume they have played without the thread of being shot at is quite a leap.

Sports and military are amazingly similar, actually.  They are both "team" sports that you have to work together to achieve an objective against another team.  Preparation, effort and decisive action typically win the day in both.

I meant shot at ON the field.

Oh, I'm not being cryptic at all.  I genuinely don't recall who all was saying that the D isn't that bad.  I think most people seemed to think they played a little better in game 2 but were still a concern going into real games.

I honestly thought the defense would show up against Memphis after all the fuss was made by Sam about stopping the last-minute checks and just let the athletes be athletes but I haven't seen a defense as lifeless as last Saturday's Hogs since the Morris debacle.

The only explanation I can think of is some kind of locker room fracture between players, defensive coaches, or both.

Against Ole Miss it seemed more like scheme, with maybe one or two players loafing.

Last Saturday it was a flat out lay down by probably 8-10 players at any given time.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

I found these relating to your previous posts. Nothing earth shattering

Quote from: woodhog14 on Sep 07, 2025, 09:28 AMI thought the defense looked much better this week, against a better team, than last week.

DLine played well I thought.

Quote from: vegashog on Sep 07, 2025, 10:05 AMfour sacks and ten tackles for loss. acting like they pushed us around.

you don't think they have shown everything on defense against a swac and a sunbelt opponent do you? of course things get harder but to say this is the best we'll be is a little premature i think.

Quote from: animal on Sep 07, 2025, 02:29 PMTo me we look small on defense especially on the back end. Is Larry Worth not playing? I know he's a bigger guy as a versatile db/lb type. I just thought he had another year and haven't noticed him.

The open field tackling should improve as the season goes on. Would like to see better pursuit to the ball.

I think among the biggest things I've seen is we seem to bite on a lot of shit and get taken way out of position.

As Vegas say I highly doubt we've seen all this defense has to offer...probably have kept it fairly plain. But that's also cope so we'll feel better about ourselves for a more days.
Quote from: Pumpkin Escobar on Sep 07, 2025, 03:44 PMI thought the defense played quite a bit better, especially the LB's. The DLine played well but we seem pretty thin at DT and DE. I thought Kani Walker looked like a real SEC corner. I still have some serious doubts about this team against SEC teams but we'll see.
Quote from: Lurk on Sep 07, 2025, 07:09 PMWe looked a lot better than I expected. The offense looks like a Petrino offense. I think we're better at every position from last year. Rohan Jones looked like a weapon and the other TEs looked good.

Red zone defense was stout and overall I thought we looked pretty good the rest of the time. Sorey and the CB can play.

Minus injuries, Sam will probably keep his job.

Lee and Neal were the only two players who hustled every play when they were on the field.

Those were two that I was thinking of, along with Quincy Rhodes.

Lee is one of only two guys on the team capable of rushing the passer, so it made sense that we had him covering receivers several times.

I definetly thought the D was better than Game 1 and even Game 2.  I said as much too.  I'm wrong a lot and this time was no exception.

In fairness, I think they DID play better in game 2... but that's pole vaulting a limbo bar.

Levon Kirkland he's not but yes our DC is a master level saboteur apparently.
