this. it is what it is, and i don't feel bad for him. he got a gig.

there were 33 hc openings this cycle, 17 of them p4 spots. it's not like arkansas was the only school to pass on him.

No matter the circumstances you can't hire an interim coach who just went 0-7.

The time to make Bobby permanent HC was the day we fired him in 2012.  The second best time was December 2024.

I am rooting for silverfield, but Memphis shit the bed last year and there was zero reason to lose like they did to UAB.

I'm expecting somewhere in between Chad and Pittman level results over the next two years. Not a knock on the Silverman but it's going to be tough to adjust. His breaking point will be if he gets us back to the liberty bowl in year 3. If not, he might get one more year, or not. If we win 6 or more in each of the next two seasons l, I will be floored. I don't see it happening but hopefully I'm wrong as usual.

If that happens I would say the You're a Czech era is over.

I'll give him a chance but I'm not too impressed so far. He barely beat Arkansas last year.

The only way any coach is going to win here is if someone or lots of someone blows an ass ton of money on players akin to what Indiana did and on top of that the coach has a measurable amount of know-how, credibility, and determination. All we know about Silverman is he did pretty okay at Memphis over the course of what six or seven seasons? whatever it was. Doing pretty okay in CUSA/AAC is not in any way indicative of what he's going to be able to do at Arkansas especially if the backing isn't there or the backing is taking a "wait and see".

Cal would probably win here without chicken man money but it would be damn difficult and probably wouldn't be in the TOP 25 every week.

I'm not at all excited about the hire but on the same token I am realistic in understand there just wasn't a lot of options out there and not because it's a terrible job the coaching landscape has changed as lot of the old heads are exiting. The younger generation is coming up thru the ranks and it's going to be anyone's guess who the next Urban Meyer or Nick Saban is.

Coaches aren't our problem, we're just in the wrong conference.
Things of that nature

vegashog

yet with a good coach we did fine in the conference.

auburn, kentucky, ole miss, and florida all have new coaches, two of them with no hc experience. bama, tennessee, auburn, florida, and missouri outspent us in football but ask their respective fanbases if they were happy with the results. imo, it will take at least a couple of seasons to see how the hires shake out.

I'm impressed with the recruiting so far, and it appears Silverfield has more money to work with which helps.

Not expecting much other than progress this year.  Need to see a bump in year two.

I want to see 4 quarters of effort. No quitting in the fourth quarter.
Well, shit...

If we have the money now, he needs to be able to evaluate talent most of all. I'm just glad to have the full stench of the last three coaches gone. We've had holdovers on every staff. I've never seen teams so full of quit going back to Bert.

Same for Kiffin, Elko, Heupel, etc.

I think he shit the bed last year because he already had the job here. There were some rumors around that he changed his recruiting targets to a lot of Arkansas kids and Arkansas targets right around the same time Sam's seat got hotter than the sun. I think he's as good or better than Florida or Auburns hire. He beat both of them. They may wind up killing it but both have way more fertile recruiting grounds than he does. NIL will determine if he wins or not.

The biggest hope here is a back up Memphis quarterback dragging our D-lineman 15 yards in the 4th quarter.

Somewhere that guy is eating creme horns getting ready for the season. Did he go to Texas? IDK butt that play pretty much ended it for me.
