I'm always amazed at now small the root structures are on these huge fallen trees.

The roots are actually ripped apart underground.  I've seen oak trees uprooted when ground is extremely saturated and the root balls can be quite massive.

BASS

The big white oak in my in-laws yard snapped off the trunk at ground level, impressive because it is 4' thick.

Their neighbor had a bigger white oak that pulled up the entire root ball and pulled up the driveway slab with it.

I think Bleedinred is in Houston, or so I gathered from his posts.  We caught some rain bands and wind on the far east side of it, looks like one last strong band is going to move through between 6-7 tonight, then hopefully done.  Lost a 20 foot crepe myrtle tree in my back yard this morning.  Not sure how it survived the 150+mph winds of Laura only to get blown over by the maybe 20-30mph gusts we had today.  Lots of tornado activity in East TX and Western LA this afternoon.

SW Arkansas is going to be under the gun for a while. Long track tornadoes today in Texas, LA. Usually don't have them.

I came home from the office a little early this afternoon because of the weather.  Shreveport tv stations had nothing but weather people on them- and they had apparently been on the air continuously for hours.  The last number I heard was 56 tornado warnings from the Shreveport NWS office.  A new record.  But only one had resulted in a death-- a tree falling on a house.  I am sure there is more damage around-- a little I know of here in Texarkana.  A good number of power outages.  The wind has let up.  Just rain now.

No they aren't.  I guess the spin of the Hurricane is making them do that.

Just saw a picture of the Whataburger on State Line-- it has some significant damage, and they just finished remodeling it a couple of weeks ago.

Our Houston office got flooded - again. What a miserable place to live.

I think it rained 6 inches in benton last night. Holy crap.
The same people demanding everyone embrace your beliefs, have zero tolerance and condemn another for embracing theirs.  Oh, the irony.

Yeah all these preliminary totals seem way too low.

The Whyte Boar

I left work a little early to buy a bunch of pool shock because I knew all the rain would destroy my pool chemistry and the pool guy would be swamped so I plan to shock the shit out of it today so that it doesn't turn green.  Anyway, I got trapped in Wal-Mart.  They shut the store down for about thirty minutes and told everyone to move to the back.  I wandered around an empty store for thirty minutes and literally shot baskets in the sports aisle.  You could leave but I parked by the automotive door and no one was there to let me out.  I would have gotten drenched it I had gone out the front, so I just waited it out.

Most pleasant big Wal-Mart experience I've had in years. lol

are Walmarts there blocking off certain departments and making you pay for shit in certain areas? Every Walmart here has sections blocked and they require you to pay at a certain station for vitamins, makeup, lotion ect. It's ridiculous

I don't know.  I never go except to the Neighborhood Market.  Yesterday was the first time I have been to a big Wal-Mart in two years.
