The ac in my black truck is out, can't get it in the shop until Tuesday. Really brings back how bad the good old days of rolled down windows sucked.

I guess "Bermuda High" is no longer in fashion and "heat domes" are. I remember when Tom Bonner or Ron Sherman would talk about the "Bermuda High setting up bringing in humid, hot, gulf air into Arkansas."

My question would be why is the Sahara desert unusually cold for this time of year.  Today's temp is in the mid 70s (thanks to rain it appears) but it should be in the upper 90s to low 100s.

Is the earf experiencing global cooling?

My grandson's football team has a trainer on the sidelines with a wetbulb gauge to monitor during workouts. They will shut it down if the wetbulb gets to a certain level. If their little school does it I'm sure they all do.

Yeah, but you gotta remember, when we had to practice during two-a-days, that 98 really only felt like 89 because the earth was cooler back then.

So, when the WBGT is 90+, they can only participate for 1 hour and 30 minutes of that has to be rest periods with no conditioning drills?  Am I reading that right?

You mean they don't still hand out salt pills by the handful and make the soft babies drink water from a punctured hose they strung up?  You couldn't take your helmet off to drink either.  If you were on the practice field, your helmet was on. 
We practiced twice a day and lifted weights in an unairconditioned field house on M,W,F at noon, so really 3 a day on those days.  
This was my sophomore year in high school.  That summer was BRUTAL hot.  
The "heat index" was "Don't worry about it, you pussy!"

This was my 7th grade year, and my introduction to 2 a day practices.  It was brutal, but I welcomed getting a break from the farm.  When practice started, I got to sleep in because practice started at 7 and work started at 5.  Also, there was a thirty minute ride to and from, twice a day, so that was two hours I didn't have to work, plus practice was usually 2 to 2.5 hours, twice, so I basically was only working 8 hours a day, or half-days as my dad called them.

Today is overpay for a new air conditioner day.  I fully expect this streak of excessive heat to stop tomorrow now.
