Calling for a slight chance of some freezing rain in cent ark tomorrow. Supposed to get above freezing in the afternoon, so shouldn't amount to much.

Today was one of those days that I don't understand people bitching about cold weather. It was below freezing and breezy at daylight, but turned into a nice afternoon. After I got home from hunting and spending an hour bitching about the hire, I went outside and it was very pleasant. Washed my truck and buggy and hauled some wood. Sat outside and watched a little football. Light jackets are relatively inexpensive and readily available.

"Atmospheric river" is something I heard of when I was up there but thankfully I never saw anything like that.

Some of the flooding I've seen around Snoqualmie is terrible.

Floods

While the Nooksack River provided an essential mode of early transport and the location of The Crossing on its banks led to the early population base of Everson, it also caused damage on a regular basis when it flooded and invaded the homes and businesses of Everson. The historical record indicates a significant early flood: "About 1885, was one of the greatest floods in history in the Nooksack Valley. The whole valley was inundated and one could pass from the Nooksack to the Fraser by canoe without a portage. Much stock was lost and great damage done" (Jeffcott, 307).

Floods were documented in images throughout the first half of the twentieth century, including one that warped the railroad bridge over the river in 1910. One of the pioneer houses was photographed in stages in 1947 as it fell into the river after high waters undercut the banks below its foundation. In 1990, a massive flood caused widespread damage in Everson, Sumas, and Nooksack. In more recent times, the widening of the river bridge span and a levee built where the floodwaters leave the Nooksack River at Everson via a natural overflow route to the north have mitigated flooding, but the possibility remains a continuing concern.

Seattle gets more "rainy days" than we do down here.  Rarely is it heavy rain, just a lot of drizzle and light rain.  The Olympic Mountains throw a rain shadow over it.  Snoqualmie probably gets 20% more annual rainfall than Little Rock.  Up in the Snoqualmie Pass it's more like double.  Beautiful area, crappy mudslides.

no but the entire house shook like crazy last night all night as we had 30mph winds. Everyone that was long the front range from Morrison north had their power turned off. Maybe still do. Huge fire out by Yuma that burned over night. Supposed to have high winds again Friday and be 70. I'm sure all my patio furniture on the roof is fucked up. I didn't even look before work. Supposed to be 66-70 all next week here too.
