Seems like both terms are useless. If the actual temp is above 32 F, water is not going to freeze--even if the "feels like" is -40.

there is some science behind the heat index and wind chill.  but i do find them useless, just talk about the actual damn temperature.

Wind chill and heat index are both made up bullshit numbers designed to confuse the masses.

Another tool to oversell global warming as a crisis.  They know that the stupid 90% of our population won't know the difference between those numbers and actual temps and will conflate the two.

I don't know if we are even going to have winter this year.  It's the middle of January, I need to mow, and lots of years spring starts in February anyway.  Looking at the long range stuff does not show any serious cold snaps coming.

look at us...we've had a mild winter thus far. Skiing is shit in high country and we are set for another 10 days of 60 degree weather end of January. I hear park city is worse they barely have snow. Apparently vail has had a sharp decline in skier visits due to lack of snow

You can pretty much tell what kind of seasons we'll have based off the historical data now. La Niña like we're in now has historically been dry and warm. It's supposedly transitioning this year so we may get a cold March if we get anything at all.

This occurred with dorms in the "Blizzard of 93'" when I was stationed at Loring AFB in Maine. 3 floor dorms and the drifts covered the first two and was near the windows of the third floor. Although I didn't participate, there were folks jumping out the dorm windows into them.

So many of my bedding plants are pushing up through the mulch. They are gonna be in sad shape if we do get ole man to bite.
