Time to hit the stores before there's nothing left. It appears southern arkansas could get hit with more ice than snow and if so...yikes. Don't wish that on anyone: I remember that awful ice storm mid 90s when eastern arkansas had so much ice we didn't have power for a week.

I remember the winter storm of 2000/2001 over Christmas break.  I got stuck at my girlfriends for a week.

We were up visiting and had to jump hotels in Fayetteville 3 times because the power kept going out while waiting for the roads to clear up. Once the roads got somewhat passable I had to white knuckle it across a frozen Oklahoma with a pregnant wife in the passenger seat.

First and last time we ever drove home for Christmas.

We were out of power for 2 hours and the older couple across the street for 2 weeks.  I ended up giving them all of my firewood and lamp oil.

We got stuck at my parents' house with two 9-month olds.  It wasn't fun.

I sat two cars from the light beside Gene Lockwoods in 2001 and watched it snow 6 inches before I got through the light. Absolute gridlock and chaos.


This may be a 1994 level ice event and in the same area. Bad shit.

We lived in the Spring Lake Park area during that storm. I remember hearing tree limbs snapping and transformers blowing all evening. 12 year old me thought it was pretty cool outside of not being able to get on my computer.

As long as power remains on I'm fine hunkering down. 

My worst experience.  We were in Texas for Christmas and we saw hogs beat Georgia in the Cotton Bowl. Next day we headed back to Memphis.  My old man insisted on leaving Ft Worth despite Arkansas being covered ice in the weather map.  500 miles home. 

From mt pleasant the road got icy. We got to arkadelphia.  I30 solid ice.  Came over a hill and the road was closed by ASP.  We were stuck.  They took us to town and dumped us in front of a Baptist church.  Spent two days on the floor of a church gym in a loaned sleeping bag eating disaster food and whatever townsfolk brought. We were taken back to our car when i30 reopened.  Took a day to get to Brinkley. Another storm so I 40 closed. Two more days stuck in a seedy motel with my parents who by this time were about to kill each other.  Five plus days to get home.  It sucked balls. 

My wife endured a 100 year snowstorm in Denver.  I left for a Sony show in Beverly Hills.  By the time I arrived she had two feet.  Next day there was six feet and still falling.  She lost power but had a gas log fireplace.  She had to dig out enough space for the dog to shut and puss.  All while I was in LA stuck as DIA was closed for a week.
