There used to be several big houseboats in the Yacht Club.  They are probably still there.

It's more of a house boat type place, but the Hastings like the name I guess.

It's a nice dock.

We lived on a big ass hill/street as kids. Probably a solid 2-300 yards from top to bottom, cars parked on the street and sledding down the dodging them and anything else that popped out. Had a few trips to the minor med during snow events but thankfully nothing too major. I'd probably be dead if we had atvs like everyone does today.

I grew up in Little Rock at Markham and Rodney parham.  When it snowed we'd sled down that hill on Mississippi blvd.  In the street.  Scary as shit.  You'd hope a car didn't pull out and run over you.

I grew up in east Arkansas.  Pretty damn flat.  One year we got a snow so my dad and his brother loaded us kids up, I think there was 7 or 8 of us, and took us to the levee on the farm.  We were having a ball until one of my cousins forgot to duck at the bottom and the barbed wire fence caught him across the neck.  It was a hell of a sight seeing him yanked off that sled and flipped backwards several feet like in a movie.  We all were laughing and jumping up and down until he got up and blood was skeetin out his neck.  Blood all over the snow made for an eerie scene.  Marrianna was the closest hospital at the time and we got him there in time.  He took 40+ stiches across his neck, nearly from ear to ear.  He's grown now and you can't even see the scar.

Scariest part of that story is he had to go to the hospital in Marianna

Oddly enough, back then It just seemed normal.

Now the thought terrifies me...

oddly this same scenario happened when I was growing up in eastern arkansas but it was the levee out by west memphis not that far south. I don't know what's worse...going to the hospital in Marianna or critical memorial as we called it in WM
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

Lurk

Country club hill winter of 78 on probably 20000 dollars worth of antique round Coke signs(damn things would fly). Definitely a top 10 fun time.

I remember when my granddad was in there back in the 70s. The Dr. would come into the room smoking a cigarette.

Good times...

Always with the weather.  In the ER and looks like FIL may have had an MI.  Treponin level of 70...maybe has Covid too.  Always seems like stuff like this happens when there is snow on the ground.

And some old lady has been shrieking at the top of her lungs two doors down for the last two hours.

Road are going to brutal in DFW today. It "warmed" up to 34 yesterday and was sunny, so some of the snow/sleet/ice melted only to re-freeze last night. It's just ice/black ice now. Won't get above freezing until this afternoon. Then we're supposed to get freezing fog tomorrow morning.
I need help and I know it.

We may have a bomb cyclone setting up for the east coast next weekend early next week. Neat.

Roads were slick this morning. Had to white knuckle it around a couple Karen's in Subarus.

I've been driving the last two days.  The people driving 5 mph are worse than the ice.

Social media said Arkansas starts 2-0 in SEC Weather.

BASS

i have a mustang gt and drove to work today.  all of the main roads in nwa are plowed.  yesterday the snow was too deep in my parking lot to get my car out, borrowed a shovel and got the snow out from behind the tires enough to back out and was able to drive no issue.  just don't be an idiot when there is snow or ice between your rubber and the road.

I did do an involuntary power slide for about 200 yards right out of the gates this morning but other than that all was fine.
