whoever was doing donuts in a minivan probably should have been arrested.

Did FPD think the kid was an Arkansas football player or something?
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

My kid and a buddy was pulling into a parking lot last night. Following each other. His buddy hit the gas a bit and did a fishtail. Fay cop came out of nowhere and lit him him. "Get out of the truck you're going to jail". Kid asks why.  "Get out of the truck you're under arrest". Totally took him to jail for "reckless driving". He called this morning and said there was one other in the holding cell last night for doing donuts in a parking lot in his minivan.

Looks like they both got loitering too, what's that about?

Honestly, I'd probably fight this one in court if that's how it went down.... and probably let the media know about it too.  I relayed this story to an experienced police officer and she just basically sighed at how silly the whole thing seemed.

There were a bunch of guys in the parking lot. Hanging out. Truck club stuff.  These two were driving by and just pulled in. The cop was apparently watching the other group and saw the kid pull in and gas it to slide a little. Made an example.  Tacked on loitering since the other group was there.  Kid was very respectful and wasn't doing donuts or anything. Just fishtailed as he pulled in. I do that shit myself and I'm almost 50.

His folks are supposedly contacting their attorney to see if anything can be done. They definitely want to see the dash cam footage.

Makes the police department look like a bunch of fucksticks if this is the route they wanna go when crime is rampant and I'm sure other more important things to be doing
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

I got pulled over the other day by a Fayetteville woman cop on school. I was turning right on a green light. Instead of properly turning into the right outside lane, I went ahead and turned into the left inside lane since I had a left turn up ahead. She said that was an illegal turn and I should turn into the outside lane, then put my signal on and change lanes. I don't care if that's the law, it's stupid and I've never followed that rule. Fortunately she gave me a warning. I think she wanted dees nuts.

Reckless driving has a mandatory 5 day jail sentence.  Sounds to me more like Careless and Prohibited Driving if anything.  That one does not have any mandatory jail and only a $100 fine that would probably be waived since he spent a night in jail.

Should be pretty easy to get reduced if not dismissed.

Hognrock

That is some bullshit. A parking lot is the best place to learn to drive. 98% of cops are good. Sounds like he encountered the 2%.

I'd fight the hell out of it if it was as your son described.

TC

I just called them and told them how stupid it all is, and what a waste of everyones time it was.

Word is Little Rock schools are gonna close the entire week. Main roads are already bone dry. Teachers also protesting snow days being added back to the end of the year again. Bring in the robots to teach.

I will say this, it was a strange storm.  There was so little ice and snow that the grass barely had any on it.  In fact, the grass and the roofs could have been mistaken for a heavy frost.  Yet, the roads were completely covered in about an inch that became a sheet of ice with a little travel.  Even this afternoon in the shaded parking lots and neighborhood streets, the roads still have a layer of white.

It's weird.  It's usually the other way around with the grass getting covered and the streets staying clear.

Teachers are upset that the state took away AMI days for public schools, but allowed the charters and private schools (who are also now taking state money) to allow remote instruction on snow days.

Don't gaf. Take pride in your work. Don't make me have to go all Nick Saban speech. Those private school teachers don't make very much. At least the ones I know at a place like Episcopal. Fuck your feelings and get back to work.

Teachers are always upset by something.

speaking of cops, I got pulled over in lowell couple weeks back for looking at my phone while stopped at a red light.

he said you can't look at your phone in your car period, not his rule but it's the law.

which is crazy given how I had my ipad on a window mount for directions (delivering packages in the am) and obviously I am looking at that but I guess since it's not a phone.... but it is lowell and they are just iching to pull someone over.

they in a contest with FPD?

Kid got his truck back from impound. He was worried his gun would be gone. He apparently had a 9 and a .45 in glove box. My kid saw other cops searching his truck after the first guy hauled him away. Cops ransacked everything. Didn't take the guns or charge him. He's 20 so no CCW. They did scatter his gun magazines all over his seats and floorboards. Fortunately, the tow guy didn't steal them.
